This review is for Misty's 1950's Diner, Prahran VIC

Misty's is a traditional American Diner. I find the food to be quite greasy and very average in presentation and flavour. However, if you are into that style of food, then I supposed it's authentic to what you should expect. I do love the atmosphere and the staff are so attentive and friendly, even Misty!

Only ever been here on a friday night, and its always two for one till 8pm. It's great to have a quiet night out with friends, you can sit inside by the fire place on couches or out the back in the "al fresco" style covered smoking area. Many times i've been the back bar has been closed but the last time I went it was open and was great. The music is not good, but we go more for the atmosphere. The drinks are fairly pricey after happy hour - but a good place to go in the Brighton area.

I went here on the weekend for a function. We were in the "Grand" room and it was just beautiful. The cocktails were great and made right in front of you, and the staff really friendly. I found the finger food to be quite nicely presented, but there was not much of it. The mini burgers were really gorgeous, so juicy and fresh. There were little crab cake type canapes that were very nice also. It was a great night all in all, and I definately would like to go back for dinner.

I love St. Kaths for a mid week dinner. The food is quite relaxed and the atmosphere is much the same. We shared a few small plates and dessert. The grilled flat bread was just beautiful and light with a nice smokiness, it went perfectly alongside the grilled haloumi and KFC. We also had the lamb dumpling which I did not really like, it reminded me of tortollini with cold yoghurt sauce. Just not my cup of tea, however my partner loved it. We had two desserts and shared, we had one of the Mr Whippy's with pomegranate brownie and lots of fudge sauce, the toppings were nice but the ice cream it self was a miss for me. The other dessert was the chocolate mousse with raspberry filled donuts, the mousse was extremely rich and the donuts has minimal filling - not very good at all!! Having said all that, I would go back, knowing what not to order next time ::)

This review is for Golden Fields, St Kilda VIC

WOW, just WOW. Golden fields has to be my FAVOURITE asian restaurant. The lobster roll was absolutely gorgeous, buttery brioche with beautiful fresh lobster. And the twicwe cooked duck was so much fun to make at the table, it tasted just gorgeous too. Everything we had was cooked perfectly, and flavours were well balanced on all accounts. Make sure you save room for dessert. The peanut butter parfait was so good!!

This is a nice little place - I have visited on quite a few occasions. It is extremely cheap and the food is tasty. The brekky roll is so yummy. The pancakes are light and fluffy and the serving is huge. The vanilla slice is made to order-it is yummy!! I recommend stopping by if you are in the area - even just for a coffee (which are beautiful) and a homemade muffin.

If you like Greek food, you will LOVE Hellenic Republic. We always start with the Tarama - it's beautiful! I love going and getting a variety of different things and just sharing so you can try a little bit of everything. The desserts are yummy - must have the custard filled donuts - absolutely gorgeous.

They have lovely pies and pastries here. The only negative is car parking , which is hard to get during the lunch hour and they also run out of items with no back-up. So basically, get in early or you miss out. I have purchased a few last minutes cakes and have always been impressed. The lemon tart was a hit.

Considering the location, this is one of the nicer places on the street. It's quite rustic with huge tables and lots of chairs and even the option to sit on couches. The coffee is good - nothing spectacular - and the food is of the same quality. The cakes always look fantastic and freshly baked. It's somewhere I would go time and time again for a quick cheap meal.

This review is for Figjam Cafe, Carnegie VIC

I had heard good things about this cafe, my partner and I went and ordered a big breakfast, scrambled, and a toastie. It was the worst big breakfast I have ever had, the eggs were so tough and over cooked, the tomatoes and mushrooms had no flavor and everything was just bland. The toastie was average. I will not be going back in a hurry - i'm unsure if we just went on a bad day
