My mother was a Russian born in Harbin in China. We have always eaten Chinese. After moving to Oakleigh their was a dearth of Chinese restaurants. With the opening of Tea Garden, this has now changed - no more trips to Box Hill or Waverley!
I took 20 of my staff there for dinner last Sunday night and all commented on the fine food. The chicken spareribs in the entree section are excellent, and don't go past the chilli prawns.

Very busy so booking is advised.

Excellent service overall - attentive and professional.

BYO wine but they have an excellent wine selection and well priced

Well worth a visit

Cost is in the medium range

Approximate cost: $19-$24

If you want the best, then sometimes one needs to make the effort! This in an amazing fruit and veg shop, that sells a great range of additional grocery lines. Not cheap but exceptional quality and a wondrful food experience. Well worth the drive to get there.

This review is for Hoyts Cinemas, Chadstone VIC

I repeat below an email sent by my wife to Hoyts Cinemas on 8 January 2010. There has been no response from the company. We use village Gold Class at Century Glen Waverley sometimes and have only had positive experiences. We are not in the habit of making formal complaints :

I would like to express my disappointment in our experience whilst attending a film at your La Premier Cinema in Chadstone last night.

I was given gift vouchers for Christmas and booked for the 5.30pm showing of Its Complicated.

On arrival we were shown around and ordered drinks in the lobby which were served promptly.
We also ordered a plate of nachos to be brought into the theatre at 5.45pm, with the intention of ordering another meal later in the movie.

The nachos arrived at 7.10pm. As we had finished our wine by this stage my husband went out to the bar and ordered another glass of wine each to be brought into the theatre.

Unfortunately the nachos we received (almost 1 hour late), were lukewarm and 50% of the crisps consisted of broken/crunched pieces from the bottom of the packet. The extra glasses of wine we ordered didn't arrive at all.

On leaving the theatre we advised the staff of our disappointment at the experience and were advised the staff member had written down the wrong theatre therefore the nachos were late and not hot. They couldn't even locate the order for the extra wine ordered.

As we are in the hospitality industry we recognise the importance of raising issues such as this and asked to speak to a manager. We were advised a manager wasnt on duty at La Premier. With further persistence a manager was called up from downstairs. We explained what had happened and she advised us there is a window of 30 minutes for delivery of meals -
this does not explain the 1 hour delay, the quality of the food, or the loss of the order for the extra wine.

There appears to be either a complete breakdown in procedures, or staff who are not trained properly. Surely tickets should be double checked to ensure correct theatre and seating is noted on orders.

I trust you will look into why these problems have occurred and would appreciate some feedback as it is unlikely we shall return to the cinema unless we can be confident of better service.

Regards

There are butchers ...and there are butchers!

Don't get put off by their prices - amongst the most expensive in Melbourne. What you take home is an experience. Simply the best meat in this state!

Two country trained butchers showing us city slickers what meat is really about!

A high turnover from this small strip shop ensures total freshness. In addition, an excellent selection of pre-prepared meals - don't go passed their Thai chicken balls when they are available!

Zmit (Austrian for cinnamon) is Melbourne's ultimate pattiserie. Michael was traditionally trained by his father who owned Fleischers in Malvern. Their product is absolutely superb, although expensive. And the service is also excellent.
They have just won the 2009 City of Whitehorse Christmas shop window display and their front windows are always special.
By far and away the best pattiserie in Victoria - just ask Vogue magazine where they feature from time to time

We live in Oakleigh and were fed up with the poor quality available in our immediate area ... so we WOMOWd! And this recommended fish shop appeared. It is very good. The fish was lovely and thick - not the wafer thin offerings so often around. The chips - just ok. We prefer them crisper.

As a retailer, I appreciated the friendly and efficient service.
