A Chocolate Lovers Paradise and a South Australian Icon!

They have all the old machinery they used to use behind glass and you can push the button to see how it works. A bit of a distraction for a short while but the smell of the chocolate will soon lure you back.
So much to choose from, you get a headache trying to decide.
HIGHLY Recommend.

Ventured here for lunch today - our first visit.

Ordered a "States Platter" to share. It was very busy as there seemed to be a private "Hens do" in the other half of the restaurant and there were only 2 girls serving. We got a platter after only 15 minutes, which we thought was pretty good but then 2 minutes later (and before we had a chance to eat anything, thank goodness), they came and claimed it back.... they had given us the wrong one. We had to wait another 20 minutes for our correct platter to arrive.
To their credit, it was beautiful - The Salt and Pepper Squid was hot and cooked to perfection, the Beetroot dip was divine, the Asian prawn salsa was delish plus the fresh Salad, Ham, Salami and Prosciutto was very tasty. Served with Olives, Dill Pickles, Pita Bread pieces, water crackers and bread sticks, it was BEAUTIFUL! (There was also 2 Oysters in their shells but as neither of us liked them, they got left on the plate). We did look at the desert menu but thought that $12 was a bit steep for a piece of Lime Key Pie.
We were quite full from the platter though, so very happy.
Would definitely come back - 8/10.

We had been on a Murray River Boat cruise and decided to stay overnight, so we could visit friends at Mannum the next day.

The room was in desperate need of an 'update' and was also VERY small but it was clean thankfully - as was the bathroom/toilet area. The bed would have had to have been the most comfortable hotel mattress I had ever slept on.
Cudo's for that.

A warm day, so would have been nice to have been able to leave the door open but there was no screen and mosquito's were in full attack mode ... so it stayed shut.

There was an air con but it rattled and shook all night.

If you are just looking for somewhere to have a shower and a comfortable bed to sleep in, then this is the place. At $120 per night, it's not the cheapest but probably the most convenient.

Stayed overnight on a Saturday with my partner, as part of our 10th Anniversary celebration. The check in staff were very friendly and helpful.

We had dinner in their restaurant ("TG's") but found it to be very overpriced for what it was. (We had actually booked for dinner at a restaurant near by but there was a mix up and we couldn't get in).
The room however, was lovely. Very comfortable bed and the bathroom area was clean.
We enjoyed the full buffet breakfast the following morning, as part of our package.
On the whole, enjoyed the experience and would be happy to go back ... maybe for our 15th? :)

Decided to stay here with my partner, to celebrate my 50th Birthday.
Arrived in the middle of a very hot afternoon (temp of around 41 degrees!) and we parked ourselves in the sports bar for a few hours.
We then had a choice of 2 restaurants for dinner - The Lakefront Bistro or Crusoe's Restaurant. The bistro is a more relaxed area, while Crusoe's is a bit more "high end" and pricey.
We chose the Bistro and had a beautiful roast dinner.
As part of our package, we had a hot breakfast delivered to our room the next day. We enjoyed it on our balcony, over looking some canoe races that were happening on the lake.

All rooms at the Lakes resort, have an east facing lake view, which gives you full sun in the morning.
Each booking also comes with a continental breakfast as part of the price. (A hot breakfast is extra).

A great place to stay - highly recommend.... 9/10!

This has been our regular shop for Chinese takeaway, for the past 9 years, as we live very close by.

Used to do phone orders and have it delivered but now order online in advance and set the time we want for delivery - It has always been on time or early, so full points for that.

There are lots of choices on the menu and food is very tasty and always piping hot. Personal favourites are the Sweetcorn and Chicken Soup, Steak and Cashew Nuts, Fried Rice, Mongolian Lamb, Beef and Black Bean and just recently they have added deserts.

Highly recommend for good food and Timely deliveries - 8/10.

Average Italian Cafe. Visited for a Saturday lunch, using a Scoopon deal.

We shared a bruschetta for entrée, which was tasty but almost cold.

For our mains, we chose the Schnitzel Parmigiana - 1 chicken and 1 beef - both served with lovely hot chips and a small salad. A generous serve and presented to us before we had a chance to finish our entrée.
Certainly quick service but maybe a little too quick, if that's possible.

We came back for a coffee later but it was only lukewarm and had a "metallic" taste to it. Didn't like it much.

Nothing was horrible but nothing was outstandingly good either - 7/10.

Tucked away off the main road in Mount Barker, this family run café remains a bit of hidden gem.
We had a voucher from "Living Social", that gave us 2 main meals and 2 coffee's, for $18. Great Value!
We live in Adelaide, so it was a lovely 45 minute drive into the hills

We both chose the Chicken Schnitzel with chips, salad and mushroom gravy. Very nicely cooked and presented.
The service was very friendly too.

Apparently they do catering, so they are not open all the time. Would pay to phone and check if you have a long journey to get there.

A lovely restaurant with a great view overlooking the lake.
Depending on the weather, you can choose to sit outside and take in the scenery.
We had a large wood fired pizza with the lot to share and finished with Coffee and Cake.
Everything tasted fresh and the waitress serving us was extra friendly. Definitely worth a return visit - 8/10.

Mum and I chose a busy Saturday to stop by here for lunch.
The service was a little bit slow but the meal was nice when it arrived. We had the Chicken Schnitzel with chips and salad. Friendly service and the meal tasted pretty good.
We were entertained with a concert from members of the public - songs from the fifties and sixties. Some were good and others left a bit to be desired but all fun.
We ordered coffee which was lovely but the cake that came with it, was quite dry and the cream on the side was definitely off. Not impressed there.
The café has a gift shop attached and while it all seemed a bit expensive for my taste, it was nice to see what was on offer.
7.5/10. We would go back.
