This review is for Wet And Wild Hand Car Wash And Cafe, Port Melbourne VIC

As this is the closets hand car wash to my home, I thought I'd give it a crack after driving past it so many times over the years and wondering how it compared to others. There are definitely advantages in keeping some things unknown and I should have left well alone...
My car is a black Volkswagen Jetta, with cream interior and cream leather seats. I knew I was asking for trouble when I bought the car, however it looks so lovely when it is clean and committed to the ongoing maintenance such a glamorous vehicle would bring.
Splurging for a car wash, I left the car there and went home (just down the road), looking forward basking in the car's cleanliness on my return. An hour later, I came back and wondered why there were so many watermarks on and around the outside of the car. It seems that it wasn't exactly dried in the manner you would expect for a 'hand wash and dry' - ie. actually dried properly with a buffer/towel.
Worse, the inside of the car had dirty hand marks all over the cream interior. Argh! Perhaps it is too much to ask for someone who is cleaning your car to actually be clean themselves, or at the very least remove all evidene of their filth.
No matter, I will never, ever return...

This review is for Alf's Removals, Albert Park VIC

verified email - 10 Aug 2010

I have used Alf's Removals on about a half dozen occasions over the past few years to move around Bayside suburbs.
Thankfully the last move a few weeks ago will be the last one for a very long time. While the service is competent, Alf's is expensive and slow. Which, when you are paying by the hour, means that there is little value for money.
Having used Alf's 6 months ago, one would think that the price would be the same. Not least because less was being moved after offloading some furniture including a fridge, and because most of the boxes were being moved into a single room at the destination house. This did not turn out to be the case.
Despite having used Alf's many times in the past, and referring many friends to him and his service, going over the hour by less than 10 minutes equated to an extra $50 charge. While I usually am nonplussed about these things, being thankful I don't have to do this type of physical work for a living, I was disappointed at the lack of goodwill I thought had been fostered over the years. I won't be recommending Alf's to anyone else in the future.
