This review is for The Greek Club, South Brisbane QLD

verified email - 15 Feb 2013

I grew up attending functions at The Greek Club and had my wedding here and my son's christening here. The reason we keep going back is because its excellent value for money. The food is usually really good and huge portions. It also has a really nice Mediterranean atmosphere. It does need a little updating & parking can be tricky at times.

These guys did a great job building our new patio and it looks fantastic. We hired them because the offered a very reasonable quote for such a big patio and were more than willing to work around our renovating schedule as we had to wait for other jobs to finish before they could put the patio up. It did take longer than expected to put it up but it was such a big patio I can understand the delay. Very professional and great result, thanks guys!

We hired these guys to put up colourbond fencing around 2 sides of our house but also to install a powder coated aluminium sliding gate at the front of our house. We hired them because their quote was very reasonable but also because they were so helpful trying to match the sliding gate colour to our electric garage doors. It was a very hard match and they didn't give up till they exhausted all avenues. The fence and gate went up smoothly and professionally and they look great. Thanks guys!

This review is for John Clark Pools & Renovations, Wynnum West QLD

I cannot express how dissapointed I am in the work we received from this company. I hired these guys a few years ago as our pool needed resealing and recoping. This is not a cheap job, in total it cost us more than $11500 and you expect for that sort of money that you wouldn't need to do anything to it again for a very long time. They got me to choose the pavers they used for the recoping from their supplier. I chose a dark grey colour and left the rest to them. At first the work looked great and I was very happy with what they had done. However after a year or so the pavers started discolouring and white patches started appearing everywhere around the perimeter of the pool. It got progressively worse over the year. My husband tried a few things to remove the white patches but when nothing worked we called John Clark Pools out to have a look. The man that did my renovation was no longer working for them so they sent out someone else. He tried a couple of things to rectify the problem but nothing worked for him either. I admit in the beginning they did send out quite a few people they thought might be able to figure out a solution. In the end the conclusion seemed to be that the wrong sealant was used on the pavers and calcium from the chlorine being trapped under the sealant on the pavers caused the white patchiness. They said they didn't have any records of the sealant on their records and as they couldn't get in contact with the man who did our renovations they would not accept responsibility for it. They told me to repair it I would need someone to sandblast the sealant off which would cost thousands of dollars. Well thankyou so much John Clark Pools, I paid you almost $12000 to renovate my pool which now looks like rubbish! I also tried to contact Rebecca one of the owners on many many occasions but she will not respond by phone. She just gets her workers to call back. The last time I spoke to these people they said they would continue trying to get in touch with the man who did the renovation and call me back, that was a year ago and I've heard nothing. Be warned anyone wanting to renovate their pool, DO NOT USE JOHN CLARK POOLS. They do not accept responsibilty for their mistakes and it will cost you thousands of dollars to fix it.

This review is for Unbreakable Glass, Browns Plains QLD

We have used Unbreakable Glass for 2 projects at our home now and we could not be happier with the work that was done. Sean is the owner and we first hired him to build us a glass banister for the top of our stairway and we were so happy with him we also got him to put a glass pool fence in for us. His prices are excellent and the quality of his workmanship is of the highest quality. Our frameless glass pool fence looks fantastic and when people ask how much we paid they are always suprised as they expect it to be so much more. Sean is also one of the most helpful and friendly tradespeople I've had at my house and we have had ALOT here in the last few years because of renovations. To anyone wanting any sort of glass work done, you cant go past Sean.

This review is for Style Electrical, Upper Mount Gravatt QLD

We hired these guys when we were doing some renovations to our house recently and were more than happy with the work they performed. Our intentions were to get a few quotes before deciding on an electrician but when Paul first came out he was very professional and helpful and his quote was very reasonable so we hired him without any other quotes. It's two brothers that own this business and they are both very helpful, they also have a team of electricians that do the majority of the work and all up we have had about 6 of them out here and all have been very good. We've even hired them to do some work on my parents house. In this day and age with so many dodgy tradespeople out there when you find a good one you don't let go of them so I will definatly be holding onto these guys.

This review is for Food Fantasy, Broadbeach QLD

I have been for breakfast, lunch and dinner here and I honestly think its one of the best buffets I have been to. There is a huge variety of food and all really good quality. It feels like they use the freshest ingredients too. For value for money I'd say lunch is the best bet as the price jumps from $30 to $45 for dinner with just as good food being served at lunch. It may seem a little pricey but rest assured the food is definatly worth it. They do offer a pensioner discount and kids under 4 eat free. The decor has been the same for a while and could use updating but it still feels clean and tropical.

This review is for Jupiters Hotel & Casino, Broadbeach QLD

This is one of my most favourite places to stay because they have everything under one roof! You seriously don't need to leave at all. There are multiple dining options, from casual to fine dining, there is an awesome pool area with lots of cheeky lizards darting around which amuse my children to no end. There is also a pool bar & I have found the best way to spend a sunny Gold Coast day is to order Club Sandwiches down to the pool area & relax on one of the many sun loungers. There is also so many entertainment options, obviously the casino but also the theatre which always has something great showing, just last month I saw Tap Dogs. There is even a sit down comedy club in the Irish pub on the casino level. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a great time without traipsing all over the Gold Coast.

This review is for Spinners, Broadbeach QLD

Spinners has been around forever and it's a bit of an institution at Jupiters Casino. I have been to this restaurant more times than I can count and the food is always consistently good, not pretentious just good quality tasty food. My favourite item on the menu is the combination stir fry and there is a reason it's been on the menu for more than 20 years, because its so good. I also love that they are open until really late, I've often gone for a late night club Sandwhich with my husband when we've been staying at the casino. They also have really good specials for rewards members that they change monthly, last month when I was there they had Steak & Garlic Prawns for $9.90 for rewards members. It's free to join up with the rewards program.

This review is for The Kitty, Brisbane QLD

verified email - 11 Feb 2013

The Kitty is in the newest bar to open in the Treasury Casino in Brisbane and its very sophisticated and cool. I recently went here as part of a Hen's night and we were given the VIP treatment all the way. There is the main bar which is stocked full of top shelf liquor and then there are two rooms on either side with curtained and roped off VIP sections. We were lucky enough to have one of these and we definatly felt like VIP's all night long. One of the perks is your own cocktail waitress which is fantastic as you don't have to keep battling the crowds at the bar. They also have a fantastic cocktail menu, I can highly recommend their Mojitos. And if there is nothing on there that you like they will whip up one for you with flavours you do like. From my understanding anyone can book one of these VIP areas, I think there is just a minimum spend on food & drinks but if you have a group of you going this can actually be achieved pretty quickly. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a different, sophisticated and fun night out.
