I went to see Julie in 2011 when I had a few career issues and felt I would benefit from the perspective of a professional. The one hour consultation was exactly what I needed - Julie was friendly and patient, and listened to my previous work experience and skills, and what I was looking for in a new role. She also made some suggestions regarding further study and the formal recognition of some of my skills through RPL which I wouldn't have thought of, and a couple of months later I had two new Cert IV qualifications that added substantially to prior tertiary study. I'm now much happier in my work life, have a better idea of the skills I bring to a job, and feel better about where I'm headed down the track. Julie can also work with you over a number of weeks or months if you feel you need a lengthier vocational assessment, although the initial one hour consultation will be enough for some. I'm so glad I sought some professional advice, and would highly recommend it at any stage of your career if you think you could benefit from some help with finding direction.

Approximate cost: $90 for the initial 60 minute consultation, more for Vocational Assessments

This used to be my regular salon before I moved interstate, and I always got great service and a great haircut here. Cheryl is just lovely, and I considered bribing her to move with me so I didn't have to find a new hairdresser in Qld! I always considered the price very reasonable compared with what you would pay elsewhere, and the salon also has a referral system where you can get discounts or other special offers for referring friends. At one point about five people I knew were getting their hair done here (especially for weddings and so on) and we were all happy customers.

I've eaten here several times for dinner, as well as ordered takeaway once, and had great food every time. It's a pretty comprehensive menu so there's something for everyone - last night's choice was the red duck curry and the ginger fish, both delicious. With both indoor and outdoor (undercover) dining options, it has lovely contemporary decor and is one of the nicer Thai restaurants I've been to in Brisbane. You may pay a few dollars extra for it but for the genuine and friendly service and good food I think it's worth it. I'm quite happy for this to be my 'local Thai place'.

Approximate cost: $17-25

This is the best milkshake I've had anywhere, ever. All your regular flavours, plus a few you might not expect - and the staff are happy to let you try your own combinations. Caramel coconut is an absolute winner! And even though their milkshakes and icecream are what they're especially known for, I love their cafe food as well. I've had a couple of beautiful salads, a haloumi and roasted vegie open grill on pumpkin bread, and some divine cakes and small tarts. I always get great, friendly service. Highly recommended.

I've been getting my hair done here every 3 months for the last couple of years and I've never had a bad experience. I love that I'm offered a cuppa on arrival, that the staff are chatting and friendly but never to the point of being annoying, and the whole experience of going there feels like a special treat. Beautiful decor, genuine and knowledgeable stylists, and they use the best products (I get Moroccan oil put through my hair every time). I won't be searching for a new hairdresser anytime soon.

Approximate cost: $80 for a wash, cut, blow dry and straighten
