This is my second time dining here in a long time. They had a Facebook promotion that you paid $1 for the second dish for each course of full-priced main, side or desserts. Basically the second person eats for almost free.

The first time around, the gyoza looked badly cooked (almost under?) with strange texture. This time around, we thought things might have improved, so we have the Duck Gyoza ($9.50 for 5 or 6 pieces). While the taste was ok, it wasn't a real gyoza, it tasted like a baked pastry instead. We also ordered chicken kara age (around $8.50) and it came out a little too dark and dry. Both side dishes were badly presented.

For mains, my partner had the Tama Rice with pork belly. It came with a big mound of rice in a pool of gravy, which was fine. But for $20.90, you would expect more than 3 chucks of zucchini and 4 slices of pork belly. Thumbs down, as it was certainly not worth much more than $1 we paid that night.

The saving grace came in the form of the Salmon Ramen (a generous piece of salmon served in a tsuyu/shoyu (you can choose miso-based too) soup base and half a boiled egg, some pieces of fish cake slices (chikuwa), seaweed (wakame), bamboo shoots, spring onion. It was very more-ish. Price is $21.90.

The service was great, and very friendly so thumbs up for that.

But I don't think I will be rushing back as I think it is pretty expensive for what you get (with exception of the salmon ramen).

Very large restaurant in Subi with pleasant decor. Attended a friend's birthday dinner party and we thought the back area was booked out completely for us but they still sat a few couples/smaller groups not from our party with us which was a little weird. A very large and varied menu and I enjoyed delicious ramen but I would not classify it as authentic. Prices are decent and the waiters/waitresses are quite lovely. Would gladly return for another meal but not book out this place for gatherings/functions.

Wagamama is a huge restaurant and you dont book, but most times you can always get a table. The service is fast and efficient, and menu very big, with all sorts of choices. The teriyaki is may favorite.

Stopped by Wagamama for a work lunch and ordered the Chilli Beef Ramen.

The menu description was "..noodles in a chicken soup topped with marinated grilled beef tenderloin, fresh chillies, sliced red onions, beansprouts, coriander, spring onions and a wedge of lime" sounded delicious.

Boy was I severely disappointed. Yes, it had all of the above ingredients in the bowl but the beef tenderloin was sliced with grain making it extremely chewy. The ramen was over cooked and the soup did not taste of anything particular, definitely not chicken. I did consider sending it back but I was tight for time and was starving.

It took me a while to review this place. Perhaps subconsciously, I wanted to forget. Anyway, here it is. We had an entree of Gyoza (potstickers) and it was flour-ry and looked undercooked (or should I say, underheated). There were still hard bits on the skin that indicated to me that they are of the frozen variety, and I am fine with that since I use frozen ones at home too. But they could not even reheat gyoza properly. For mains, I ordered a fried rice, which was ordinary and my partner had an average tasting yaki udon (Fried udon). I did not like the whole "Excuse" of the dishes coming out at different timings, etc....All in all, I never went back and probably never will but mind you, this place is always pretty packed. Perhaps it was a one-off bad day in the kitchen for them.

Yes it's a trendy concept sort of place but I found it no better foodwise than other noodle places that were cheaper. The ambience is good and the fresh juices were a bonus but they 'ran out' of a pretty standard dish and it wasn't late - my beef soup dish was good with really nice fresh flavours but my partner's second choice (because they ran out of his first choice) wasn't really up to scratch for the price. Would only go again if I had a discount voucher.

Great ambience. Ideal location. Quite expensive for a Japanese quick meal, like udon or gyoza. Better to try other Japanese nearby: same price, greater value.

Approximate cost: $14

It doesn't take long to wait for service, but when they seat you it's now arranged so you share tables with other groups. I've never liked that, since it's used to just cram more people in. When I ate meat the food was delightful, but going there as a vegetarian wasn't (Japanese food isn't traditionally vegetarian). So meat-eaters enjoy, just not for me.
