Have walked and drove passed Wafuu a few times and wanted to test it out...

Its identified itself as a Japanese Cuisine but some of the menu items appears to be more Chinese....eg wontons

It was a Friday night and I was famish after a 12hrs day at work. The place was quiet, just four other people eating in and a few people came and went collecting take aways.

I Ordered the Gyoza and Pork Ramen (#21) and Agedashi Tofu (#39). The Ramen came within 10 minutes but the Tofu seems to take ages and only arrive as i was finishing the ramen.

To my surprise the Gyoza were wontons, the ramen were Chinese egg noodles and the soup tasted distinctly like a Chinese broth! All-in-all I would say the dish was your regular Chinese wonton soup noodles...nothing Japanese about it.

The Agedashi Tofu seems to madefrom a hard rather than silken tofu and deep fried in a hard batter. It was served with what appears to be unagi sauce (sweet soya sauce) drizzled on top. Not what I had experienced before.

Anywhere else, the Agedashi tofu I've had has always been soft silken tofu fried in soft batter of potato/corn starch and served with a tentsuyu broth.

The noodles was tasty and the tofu was ok, neither was what I was expecting.

If you are looking for authentic Japanese Ramen and Gyoza in Leederville you may want to try elsewhere.

Approximate cost: $11.50
