great restaurant for some really authentic vietnamese food. It can be really crowded so go early or book if you don't want to be disappointed. It is also licenced.

I'm Chinese-Vietnamese and I remember going to this restaurant with my family on a regular basis as a child. However, in recent years, the food here is getting more and more Westernised, to a point that you wouldn't be able to tell that the food was made by Vietnamese people based on their taste. The portions have gotten a lot smaller and customer service to their fellow Asian customers, astonishingly horrible- a reason why you don't see many Asian customers coming to this place.
This place is only good for Western people who wants to think and look like that they are eating Vietnamese food. If you guys want REAL Vietnamese food, just walk back up Carrington road for about 300 meters into Indochine which does not serve the most authentic and best tasting Vietnamese food in Melbourne, but it's still thousand times more authentic than Tien Dat.

We live around the corner, and it is the favourite for us definitely, great food, lovely staff, good atmosphere, yeah it's small, but that's what adds to the "Vietnam" feel of the place. Highly recommend.

Had a great experience catching up with good friends and their family in this small restaurant with a big feast on great Vietnamese cooking. We thoroughly enjoyed the healthy food and service was pretty quick. It had a second floor but needs more space as customer demand is great. Nevertheless, booking should be made to ensure you are in!

Regular lunch goer here. Food is always good, especially the bun and broken rice, but they can get busy and service can be slow. Prices in keeping with the area.

went to tien dat on high recommendations of a foodie friend. while the service was pleasant and the food wasnt bad, i have had much better Vietnamese meals elsewhere. Too westernized and more expensive then what i would usually pay for vietnamese food. If you want something more authentic and aesthetics dont bother you, go to Springvale.

Been here several times for take away lunch and eat-in dinner - food is always super fresh and delicious. The hand rolls and salads are fabulous. Pays to phone ahead to make a booking as can get a bit cold out on the roadside - and cars passing are not the best accompaniment to such good food.

Approximate cost: $10

had a glass of chardonnary followed by yummy pho with beef and tendons. pho was delicious and piping hot made with fresh ingredients. everything was fresh. asked for extra cut chilli. garnishing is generous: bean sprouts, freshly cut chilli, mint leaves.

Approximate cost: $10

Make sure you get here early or make a reservation as it fills up fast! No wonder either because the food is fabulous. Vietnamese pancakes and spring rolls are amazing as are their curries. Check out their lunch menu for cheaper options

Approximate cost: $15

The food was really good here. There wasn't a lot on the menu, but combined with the specials board there was a good selection to choose from.

The food was fresh and tasty and did not come either too quickly nor too slowly, which was impressive given they were extremely busy.

Inside was a little squishy and noisy but outside was spot on to sit. The waiters were attentive, polite and obliging.

You definately have to book to guarantee a spot, there was a constant stream of people arriving on the Sunday night we were there.

Approximate cost: $15 - $20
