Previous visits were good. Haven't been for 18 months or so and went for a check up recently. Mainly for skin cancer check, psoriasis review and a few facial laser zaps. Normal doctor has left (I can see why now)

[redacted clinical content]

Big shock was the twenty minute IPL treatment. $350!!. Total bill was over $500 - previous visits were less that $180 after rebate which I am pretty sure they processed onsite.

Now no facilities for automatic rebate - the receptionist only had very vague idea of how much it would be and basically was not concerned - I think it was an irritant to her to be questioned about it.

So, on top of the $500 plus, I now have to chase up with Medicare at my own expense and time.

Previously I was very happy with Skin Lab and thought their main concern was health. Not sure what happened but they seem more concerned with revenue now. Wont be back - maybe Thailand next time? Certainly not with this mob anymore. Over priced, under professional.

Approximate cost: $550

Hi Paul,

Thank you for the feedback. Were sorry you were not satisfied with your recent visit - namely in relation to the stitch for your biopsy and the pricing of our services.

In relation to the stitch for the removal of the lesion on your back, this is sometimes necessary depending on the size and shape of the lesion. Our team are skilled professionals who are committed to ensuring the best cosmetic result for our patients following all types of procedures and in this case the stitch was to ensure you didnt experience any scarring given the placement and size of the lesion. Being a minor suture, it only required a simple dressing and were sorry to hear it stained your shirt.

Our pricing hasnt changed for the consultation and biopsy. It is only our Laser fees that have increased slightly since your last visit and this is to cover the cost of increased equipment fees. We also most certainly process the Medicare rebate for our patients, we require upfront payment by you and then we lodge the claim on your behalf, which is received to your nominated bank account within 48 hours - so you wont need to visit the Medicare office. Sorry for any misunderstanding you had in relation to this when speaking to our receptionist. We can confirm the rebate from your recent visit has been automatically processed for you.

Please be assured our patients are our main priority and we do hope well see you again. If you would like to discuss this further over a phone call or in person we would be very happy to arrange a time when convenient for you.

I have been visiting The Skin Lab for some time now for beauty treatments and have found them to be professional and friendly. They are part of a dermatology group that offers the more cosmetic solutions. I had tried IPL here and the machine is fast and seems to be effective. Dr Jenkins is really calming and friendly to deal with. As I have entered my 30's I went in recently for a anti aging consult because I knew I could trust her advice. Where other skin specialists might have suggested I have Botox unnecessarily she honestly told me it wasn't time yet and she didn't see the need to take my money unnecessarily. I really value this honesty and will be sure to go back as I need their services.
