Not a fan of Shingle Inn at all. Maybe if you like boring, dry cakes and bad coffee. I think a lot of people go here just for the nostalgia of it all. I had a Mediterranean Melt here once and it was so not worth the ridiculous price I paid for it. I'm a cook and I would be embarrassed to serve their food - even more embarrassed to be silly enough to go back and pay for more of it.

The ladies were so lovely. They seem d to enjoy being at work, they were polite and smiled. I felt welcome and enjoyed a wonderfully cooked meal and fantastic made coffee. My husband and I will be back again next week

I went to the Shingle Inn today for the first time ever and I loved it. The service was quick and staff were very friendly. I loved making my hot chocolate which was a different experience to other cafés. I'll definitely be back!

Went here today for the first time. Is a nice quirkily little store with nice personal touches. Friendly staff with efficient service. Coffee was yum but found the muffin to be quite dry & the butterfly cake extremely sweet!
Other than that I had a nice experience & might give it another try in the future!

First off, I love Shingle Inn cakes. They have been a treat from the first time I went to the original city store. Also had good experiences at Indooropilly. North Lakes, however, has let the brand down. Not impressed with the service at all. One of the most negative experiences I've had. Generally stuffed around and then patronized by what seemed to be poorly trained staff (can understand a trainee's errors, but not from a supervisor). And on the value rating: who charges extra for a box? It should be shown in the price- because obviously you're not going to take the cake home without it! They didn't really seem to care when I raised this, and overall gave me a strong impression of not caring whether they had my business. As a result I haven't gone back. (Now if I want a good cake, I go to the Sugar Deli!)

My friend and I have regular catch-ups over coffee and Shingle Inn at North Lakes has become our coffee shop of choice. The coffee is always delicious and they have a great range of sweet and savoury items. They also have High Tea available which I have seen other patrons enjoying and which I have promised myself that I will try one day. Only problem is that it is so popular you often have a problem getting a table. I don't like sitting outside the shop as you lose the atmosphere and are just in a busy shopping centre.

It looks like such a flash place from the outside. I'm yet to try anything from there.
Thanks for the great read!

Being a coffee addict, I had to try this place. Seems like I wasn't the only one as the place was packed. Despite how buy they were we were served quickly, and the staff that looked after us were really lovely. Was impressed that they had a few gluten-free cakes to chose from. I didn't indulge this time, but will definitely have to on next visit.

Approximate cost: $4
