6 reviews about The Pickled Fig

I love the menu provided by The Pickles Fig. As someone with dietary requirements - they offer a lot of gluten and dairy free options. The coffee is beautiful and the location is stunning! Only down side is that service is pretty slow and often we have to flag down attendants to order and pay for our food. Even with slow service the staff are still very friendly. The costs of the drinks is pretty pricey - almost $10 for a juice is a bit steep - so I just stick to their coffees.

I went here on a sunny Saturday morning about 10am after going for a swim at South Beach.

I arrived to the half empty cafe only to find one of those "wait here to be seated" signs, after waiting next to the sign for about 5mins I grew impatient and eventually flagged down one of the waitresses. The waitress was friendly and I was led to a table to read the menu. She bought me some water while I was deciding and I got all excited thinking that, if I get free table water without asking for it (in Perth this is quite a big deal!), then I can expect some great service... I was wrong.

I waited nearly 15 minutes for her to return to take my order and when she did finally return she was processing the bill at the next table while taking my order, I appreciate her ability to multitask so seamlessly, but to me it seemed a little rude.

My order came out surprisingly fast: a delicious long machiatto coffee, a freshly squeesed juice and some fruit toast (with their own fig jam). I cannot fault the quality of the food and drink but I found the $8.50 price tag for a juice a little hard to swallow, particulary when the waitress spilled half of it all over the table when she bought it out- she did however leave the spilled juice on the table for my whole stay so I could have licked it up if I wanted to get my moneys worth...?

Despite being very friendly and producing reasonable quality food and drink, the service is what really lets this place down. I will be coming back as the view is fantastic but it won't be one of my regular haunts.

This place does the best breakfast I've had in a long time. We take our 9 month old puppy to the dog beach then go to the Pickled Fig for breakfast. I always get the breakfast on fire on as it's so yum and includes a bit of everything. The potato cake and corn relish are my favourite, with scrambled eggs. Fresh juice tops it off. It's not cheap but the service is good, food is great and to be able to sit outside with your dog at your feet is convenient - of course the view of the park/beach doesn't hurt. Don't go here if you want a cheap breakfast. We have also been for vegetarian night and again, not cheap but boy was the food yum. It impressed my parents who are vego's and we'd go back again. There isn't much on the menu but it's enough to have you going back 3-4 times. If you're not a vego you can only pick from a few things so if you do plan on going it's best if everyone eats vego or isn't too fussy about their meat meals

have heard good reviews of this new 'fig' but thought I would give them some time to settle in... having hit the 6 month old mark we ventured down and had a very satisfying dining experience. from being greeted promptly with a big smile by Ryan to being served the most delightful food and wine made the dining experience a pleasure. we will definatly become regulars of this new soon to be freo institution.

Gees, the few times I've been here, it took FOREVER to be noticed, and I tried more than once as I knew they were new and might need a bit of work to settle in. One time we (two adults, two kids) sat down and were told someone would take the order (there were about 6 other people in the Cafe) and 20 minutes later I had to go to the kitchen to ask if the ditzy waitresses do table service? Finally we got served. It took a total of 45 minutes to get two coffees, toasted sanga, and two eggs bennies, when there was NO ONE THERE! I only ordered coffee on busy days because I couldn't even be bothered with the other. They also take forever to clear your table.
