I have been a few times now and love the coffee, chocolate and atmosphere, the place may feel a bit old and worn, but that's because it is and is meant to be, it's got character and history, love this place.
an outstanding establishment they serve coffee tea hot chocolate iced coffee iced chocolate milkshakes soups gourmet meals and light snacks, their specialty is the in house chocolate factory making their own unique chocolates in various flavours..they have been in katoomba since the early 1900's, and their cafe is in original form with beautiful architecture and unique decor..it has an amzing ballroom that i had the honor of viewing one day and it was magnificent..its like i literally stepped back in time..and its a memory ill cherish forever, in the heart of katoomba located in the main street its a place you must visit for a lovely beverage or more and enjoy some culinary delights while you sit back and take in the ambience and be taken back in time, and before you leave to enjoy the beautiful sights of katoomba be sure to grab some yummy freshly made chocolate for your journey..the staff is efficient and friendly and the prices are pretty fair for such a historical original part of katoomba
First cafe in Australia - beautiful decor from 1930s, but the place feels a bit neglected. The food was good, but the overall service was disappointing.
Approximate cost: $20
That's really disappointing. I was there 10 years ago and it was looking tired then. Thought they might have done something about it.
I think this place gets by on its reputation. Decor old and tired. Coffee is good, but if you want to purchase chocolates be prepared to pay a small fortune.
I have heard a lot of advertising for this cafe and from personal experience I have found it in need of a renovation which would hopefully make up for the overpriced menu and staff who just dont want to be there .... certainly wouldnt travel out of my way to go again anytime soon
Unlike many people, my experiences have never been all that great at the Paragon. It is a classic and well known cafe in Katoomba and is always busy but I wonder if it is because of its long standing existence rather than the actual experience? Buying chocolates at the front of the store is great but you have to fight your way to the back in the hope of finding a table in the cafe. Everything is old and dingy and staff were not particularly helpful. On both occasions we left before getting our food. Not particularly impressed with the menu either. This could have been so much better - the potential is definitely there.
Loved everything about this place! Coffee was fantastic, definatly what I needed! Great customer service! Def reccomend you!
An all-time favourite, even in my mother's generation. Beautiful food and lovely atmosphere particularly on a cold day outside. Highly recommend going if you haven't been, it's a Blue Mountains institution. Often very busy but worth the wait.
fantastic array of chocolates and coffee/hot chocolate. the cost of these considering the quality i thought was excellent and i loved the feeling of the place. the service was the only let down. felt rushed and not very friendly
quite expensive but well worth the experience with some of the best chocolates you will ever taste. warning: do not over indulge as may cause you to become obese, the only downside is the fact that i found an earwig in my hot chocolate but the cafe made sure i had everything for free and even got six bonus chocolates
Approximate cost: $25
