There was dog hair in the meal and the owner was extremely aggressive and arrogant when this health concern was pointed out to him. Health department will be notified of this violation and hopefully?? rectified

The food was fabulous- I had the steak with mushroom sauce and a sweet potato mash. This meal would usually cost around $35 in most restaurants but was approx $10 cheaper. The service was great- no sooner than our water glass was empty it was refilled by the lovely staff. A great place to chill with friends- excellent service and food and a lovely atmosphere.

Approximate cost: $20

Blergh! Thats the only thing I can say.

I have been to Moo Wine Bar several times and the food quality is very inconsistent. It usually ranges somewhere from poor, to very poor.

I have an allergy to milk, and I ordered a dish from the menu that I have had in the past that i believed didn't contain milk. After waiting for the food to come out, I found out that infact I could not eat it. It was a risotto combined with cheese. Personally, I've never even heard of a Risotto that has had a block of cheese dumped into it and stirred untill its combine with the rice, none - the - less I explained to the waitress that I couldn't eat it, that it was my mistake for not asking the ingredients and I offered to pay for it still. The waitress was fine with that and took it back to the chef to put in a take-away container. The chef asked what was wrong (while i'm still in earshot) and the waitress said "The gentlemen can't eat it, he's allergic to dairy ." The chef then looked at me and told me how could I be so stupid for not knowing what was in it. She said EVERY single risotto (the dish I ordered) has cheese ingredient in it. I replied by saying that I have never had a rissotto (let alone heard of one) absolutely drowning in cheese. She replied, very promptly and in a bitchy tone "I can get you a recipe", from which I replied "Well, I can get you one too". She gave me a very dirty look and sarcastically said "I'd like that" and began to search through the cupboards. I had my back to her, and my friend could easily see the kitchen. The chef called the waitress over and read through the list of ingredients in the recipe, saying 'CHEESE' a little louder than the other ingredients while giving 'evil daggers' to our table in hopes I would hear her.

Okay, Fair enough. Her recipe had cheese in it, but I did not know that. There was no need to be bitchy and undermining to me. I offered to pay for it, I said nothing bad about the food or anything, yet her comments still affected me.

The waitress came over and showed me what I could eat, but I didn't choose anything. Would you order food from a bitchy, degrading chef towards a PAYING patron? (She probably would have spitted in my food the second time around). So I finished my coffee, my friend finished her Rissoto (She told me I didn't miss out on much) and we left.

I ended up going to coles and buying a punnet of strawberries, a tub of soy yogurt and a mineral water that cost in total $11.69. The Risotto and Coffee was $17.00.

I do not appreciate the unnecessary comments from the staff when I can't help being ALERGIC to an ingredient. The food from the Moo Bar is very poor and service is just okay.. Wouldnt recommended this PLACE AT ALL. I'll leave you with a parting quote from my friend to dined with me and ate the Risotto.

"This (Risotto) is so like a cheesy vomit that my dog threw up. Geez, this Coffee isn't much better than the Risotto. *She drinks some of the water the waitress poured* The Water actually tastes better than both of them."

I was invited here with friends who frequent the place and love it, and I have to say I was very disappointed. My meal was so bad that I actually excused myself as being full - and I am certainly not a fussy eater, I eat most things. I was firstly let down that my menu preferance wasn't available, so I opted for meatloaf - which you would think is a safe option, but even the mash potatoe was vulgar. The bacon wrapped around the meatloaf smelt off too.
Everyone else seemed to really like there meal, so maybe I just bombed out unlucky that night??

We have been to Moo several times over the past 18 months and our experiences have varied a bit depending on the day. When it's firing well, Moo is a great place with fun atmosphere, good food and wine and fine service. When it's a little off the mark, the quality of food and service drops. I once had my poached eggs for breakfast served to me cold with grey hard boiled centres - you get the drift.

It's fun for Mooroolbark to have somewhere like Moo that's new and fresh cafe style works well. It's also great they stock local things like the Yarra Valley produced Buckley's beer range.

We will go back again, and think it's worth risk - hopefully their good days will continue to out numebr their bad ones.

Approximate cost: $20
