Its a Church Based Program, however, Its been a life saver for me and my family. Lee and the team at North Lakes are just amazing, Its small, and Warm and Inviting, you are made to feel very Special, There is no downside to coming here, You don't have to feel embarrassed because of buying things cheaper than you would at other Main Suppliers. Its tough times out there, its just great that a service such as this is available. I wish I could say more. But I think you get the Jest. I support them.

Approximate cost: $30

The Lakes Pantry is a non-profit church based organisation that provides low-discounted food items for families in need. They provide free fruit, veg and bread with all other non perishable items at an extremely low-discounted cost. All you pay is a one off $10 lifetime membership fee.
I visited the Pantry for the first time today, not sure what to expect. I am so glad I went. The people who were running it were beautiful, friendly and warm, caring people who embraced and welcomed every person that entered. They stopped and made an effort to speak to EVERYONE, despite the volumes of people arriving, they worked so hard to make sure everyone got the opportunity to benefit from the service they provide; making sure it was fair and everyone got a fair go. Aside from the free produce that they kindly offer, the prices of the shelf items were extremely low, you could not beat them anywhere else. I thought there had to be a catch, so checked the use by dates.... they were no different to the dates you would find in Coles or Woolies.
If I had to come up with one negative comment about the place (and I am really scraping the barrel as I have nothing but positive things to say) it would be that due to the popularity of the place, it is VERY busy, and the free items disappear very quickly. Be prepared to get there early and queue. That said, I've probably queued longer in Aldi on pension day before, and for these guys it was definitely worth it. For families or pensioners looking for a bit of help to feed themselves, I would definitely recommend it.
