Great venue and atmosphere in a popular area for dining. Meals are delicious and desserts are sublime. Great variety of dishes. Enjoy a wine with your meal. Always manage to get a table. Staff are super friendly and prompt to take your order. Really nice place for a romantic dinner. I know! Treat yourself for some fine dining and value for money. Its worth it.

I went here for lunch with a friend recently. We were a little surprised with how small the lunch menu was, there wasn't much variety to choose from, and we were also told that some of the things on the menu wasn't available that day either as they were out of some ingredients. My friend also asked if a dish that wasn't on the menu could be made for her and they couldn't offer her that either. So we were a little disappointed in that respect. However the waitress was lovely and the food was tasty enough and of a reasonable price, and there was some daily specials available too. The food came out quickly. The atmosphere and decor really wasn't my cup of tea though, as it was very dark in there of a daytime with not much lighting and it felt cramped to me. So I would rate this place 3 stars on the food but only 2 stars overall as the lack of menu options and the lighting really put me off.

Went here for breakfast with family. Menu is somewhat limited but lots of extras that you can add (for extra charge) to make it more to your liking. I think they need some more basics like croissants, bacon and eggs (they have eggs on toast but need to add bacon for extra cost) and some variety on what toppings you can have with your pancakes.
Having said that, the meals we all received were very yummy, fresh and great quanity. We didnt have to wait too long either. All the coffees and teas were yummy too.
Wasn't too squishy in there. We have a pram and we were seated in a corner but didnt feel pushed aside or boxed in.
The only downside was the price - a little dear for what you get. But being on Darby Street generally means a little pricey.

The only real issue I have with The Depot is that it is fairly expensive for what you order. It tastes alright but it is definitely not in the right price range.

Other than that, the staff are great and they put 110% in when trying to make this place a comfortable and atmospheric restaurant. Very good that it is also placed in one of the busiest streets in Newcastle.

Went there for dinner with friends.

Ordered several items off the menu - the arancini balls are fantastic, as were most of the tapas starters available. However, these were over priced for sure.

I had the soup of the day for a main, and it came out with a piece of the cooking equipment in it - hard pieces of plastic. To compensate I was allowed to order anything on the menu and did not have to pay for my main at all.

Service initially was, if anything, too much - every few minutes we were asked how things were going and if we wanted anything else. They then forgot to place an order from our table - which meant that one of our friends didnt get their meal until we had all finished ours.

Approximate cost: $20-30

The food and service here is great but it is a bit overpriced for what you get. The idea of Tapas is lost in this place which is a shame. It is more about being seen that anything else.
