Today was my first visit to this new shop (only opened a couple of months ago). I was greeted warmly by a staff member putting out fresh locally grown flowers. Inside was welcoming, lighting subdued, decor modern with country feel, produce nicely laid out and visually very appealing. The shop likes to sell fresh, "real", sustainable food with a focus on locally (Tasmanian) produced food.
The fruit and vegetables are very fresh; prices vary from expensive for some items such as broccoli, to cheaper than the big supermarkets for local apples ($2.40/kg compared with $4.95 in Woolies yesterday!) and beetroot ($2.50kg). Lovely range of meat and looks super fresh - prices range from expensive for the high quality meat from small organic producers, to very reasonable (and same as big supermarkets but fresher!) After picking a bunch of flower to purchase (priced at $12.95 for a very fresh bunch, comparable with big supermarkets in price and fresher), and picking out some fruit and vegetabled, I was tempted to try the hot chocolate.
The shop has tables for hot drinks and some food, and the shop assistant Bianca told me that the shop will be expanding its cafe service in the coming weeks.
The hot chocolate was fantastic (and reasonably priced at $3.50 for a regular cup size). The shop is child friendly - a staff member rushed over with cloths to assist after child had an accident with their hot chocolate.
Staff were very friendly, warmly greeting new customers (me) and other customers who seemed to be regulars.
I highly recommend this shop. I will certainly be returning on a regular basis.
