Tennille Joy Interiors
From establishing a design direction to carrying a project through to its completion and handover, interior designer Tennille Joy ensures every step of the process will be a resounding success. "Ultimately, my joy is that feeling when a client walks through the door of their completed space and they feel at one and happy."
Interior Design
Tennille begins with an in-depth consultation with the clients to establish the brief. This is essential to develop not just a unique and flowing scheme for the project, but also to establish objectives, budgetary requirements and brand guidelines. Attention to detail is taken if there's existing finishes from flooring to fixtures and fittings. From there, depending on the brief, Tennille will re-design the floorplan or work with the existing space with dimensions from a site measure. Tennille researches and sources products, with trusted manufacturers locally and overseas. The first pieces selected of any scheme are usually the major design elements, whether this is the flooring, surfaces or paint colours. This is done in conjunction with wallpapers, fabrics and window furnishings.
The development of the project then takes place once the materials and finishes are selected. These can include hard surfaces selection, custom joinery design, spatial planning, lighting design, colour schemes, furniture and soft furnishings.
The key area to focus on during this stage of the design process is scaling the pieces to fit into the floor plan after they have been selected. The pieces don’t just have to work in the space and appeal to the client, but they have to actually fit into the space, and a lot of consideration has to be given to how will this space flows whether it be commercial or residential. Tennille uses the computer program CAD to place / design each item selected to scale onto plans. Once the designs have been established, preparation for the presentation is the next step. The creation of concept boards or booklets illustrates every individual piece of furniture that has been selected including custom made rugs, artwork, mirrors and accessories. The boards are complimented with the scaled floor plans or elevations with an array of textile and paint samples. Once the concept presentation is approved, Tennille project manages until the final walk through of the completed project.
