The sushi at Takumi is really good and fresh. There is a huge variety to choose from and the price is so reasonable. This place was my go to place when I was a poor student.

THE BEST VALUE FOR MONEY SUSHI IN SYDNEY!!!!!!

This place has the biggest scallops I have ever seen on top of a sushi. All dishes and rolls, beside the udons are $3 so hence I don't have to watch out for the color of the plate or the bill.

My favorite dishes would be soft shell crab in a bowl, eel and avocado roll, grilled salmon or scallop roll or the cheesy crab dish. I always buy take away to snack on on the way home.

I'm not a student and I don't park in market city so I usually pay the higher $3 a dish but its still worth it. Their clean and fast in making all their dishes as their kitchen is in the middle of the room. I love watching them slice up the salmon filets.

***** Don't miss out whilst its still cheap!!!! Won't be surprised if they raise the price. They have already raised the price a few years back once.

Approximate cost: $inexp

This is the best sushi that i ever had in my life, compare to the taste and price.
The sushi is fresh and yummy! The price is just everything for $3 and for me as a student, they give a discount to $2.5 each plates.
One of my favourite place to have a lunch and dinner.

Approximate cost: $2.5 - $3 per plate for sushi

Takumi is one of my all time favourite sushi train restaurant! Best value in town and I agree with one of the reviewers they focus on simple style sushi but they are always soooo fresh and yummy! All time favourite since I was in UNI and still visit every now and then whenever I feel like having some private sushi time myself. I found that many people do go there and eat on their own especially during lunch hours! Love love love their sushi! Fantastic service too!

SUPERB VALUE. $3 for ALL dishes on the sushi train - YES that includes sashimi, scampi, hand rolls, grilled dishes as well as dessert!! The only dishes that aren't $3 are the upon noodle soups, I'm pretty sure.

But wait - there's more lol! Have your student ID card or market city parking ticket handy at the checkout and all dishes you had are reduced to $2.50 each!! That's everything on the sushi train mentioned above (excluding soup dishes). Amazing value for money!

My friends and I often have our uni lunch breaks here or as an after uni pig out sesh when we can really feast for a good hour or more and not have to worry getting smacked with a crazy ass cheque once we're actually full (which is often how most meals end at other quality sushi trains).

In saying all this praise about the prices, you're probably wondering what the actual sushi dishes are like. Being completely honest, the standard of the food is excellent, fresh and tasty, but different to recipes of other sushi restaurants like sushi bay or sushi train which use a lot more sauces and seasonings. Instead, takumi focuses on simple and traditional flavours and fresh produce.

Service is also very good, friendly, and fairly quick considering how busy the place is every time I've been - packed.

Recommend if you want to chow down a whole lot of fresh, quality sushi while being easy on the wallet (:

Approximate cost: $2.50-3.00

The sushi is excellent as there are student prices which I would say is the best price for a sushi restaurant throughout Sydney. The price does not match the food though as it is still high in quality and every time I visit it I am thoroughly satisfied. RECOMMENDED.

Approximate cost: $2 per plate

So far the best value sushi train available in the CBD for students (student discounts available with presentation of student id). Waiters are friendly and are always available if one wants to order something off the conveyer belt.

It was a good experience as it was cheap since the plates are $2.50 if you're a student or have a valid parking ticket which was great. The food was nice and served efficiently but too a lot of plates to make you full.
