Food, coffee and customer service is what keeps me coming back. The only thing I don't like is how busy they can be. (But you get that when you have a fantastic business).

Love this place, when its not ridiculously busy. Yummy food and coffee, but when its busy you often feel very rushed to leave so they can accompany more customers.

We dined here 2 weeks ago and we were lucky to be seated as soon as we arrived. We brought our son for a treat for breakfast and we weren't disappointed. We received our meals very promptly and they tasted amazing. Our compliments to the chef!! Going back for seconds this Sunday.

Approximate cost: $85

I can't comment on the quality of the food or the value here because I was never even given the opportunity to have a table! This restaurant has just opened - the second location for the successful Table 1 Espresso Cafe at Merewether and it is no where near the original's standard. I arrived expecting to have to wait for a table and was told it was a 30min wait. I was told I could either wait in the cafe (there was a lounge provided but it was full of people already waiting) or I could leave my name and mobile number and they would call me as soon as a table became available. I chose to leave my number as there was no space left to wait in the cafe. I walked around the lake with my husband for 30min without receiving a call. We decided to go back to the cafe to find out roughly how much longer it would be and to see if some waiting space had opened up. When I got back to the cafe I waited in line. The woman in front of me had just arrived and asked for a table for 2. She was seated immediately at one of the benches. I then explained to the lady at the door that I had been waiting for 30 min and asked how much longer the wait would be. She responded "at least 30min because all our tables are full". I then asked why the lady in front of me was seated straight away whilst I had been waiting 30 min for a phone call. She said it was because I was not in the cafe waiting. I then said she had given me the option of leaving my number - which I had decided to do. She then told me that she had never recorded my number (I saw her write it down). After my insisting that she had taken my number she searched through several scrunched up pieces of paper and then found my name on a list - it had been crossed off. She told me she had called me a while ago and I didn't answer so she gave away my table. I told her that I had not received a call and even showed her my call history on my phone. All she could say then was that it would be another 30 min and suggested I waited in the cafe so I didn't miss out again. She did not offer me any compensation for her mistake (complementary coffee, discount etc.) and was treating me as if missing out on a table was my fault. Needless to say I was not going to wait around for another 30min as I was already very hungry and frustrated at this point. I went elsewhere. If this cafe is going to stay in business it needs a better system for managing wait lists - scrunched up pieces of paper clearly do not work. A friendly customer service attitude would also be a benefit as well as taking responsibility for mistakes when they occur. I will not be returning.
