I sent my husband in here to get a haircut as a friend recommended it. He will never be returning and either would i. His hair looked worse then what he went in with. It looked as though he didn't have a hair cut and when he brought it up saying it isnt as short as i would like it he got a rude response. This place needs to learn manners and show respect to their customers. Word of mouth in Ballarat is a powerful tool.
I would not recommend at all.

so im a hairdresser looking for work and i have a very impressive resume for my level and i dropped it into the stag for the owner to greet me and had a chat and handed him my resume and looked at it for 2seconds and handed back to me (which was quite rude) and told me to try else where. as a hairdresser myself hes tone of hes voice and the way he greeted me was very RUDE! word of mouth is very important and everyone talks in this town so maybe at this salon they need to work on it a bit more

Love it, my hairdresser amber does the best job ever. Everytime I go, everything I want she does is awesome. Probably the best hairdresser I've been to. Price doesn't worry me if I'm getting what I want. Her little helper steph is a really pleasant girl too and she's right on the ball. I love going to the stag (sturt street) my experience there is always pleasant and I love my little chats with amber. YOU GO AMBER!!

My husband got a haircut and they didn't do a very good job. The place seems nice and so do the people

Going to the stag tonight, quite scared. I have been a brunette this whole year and I'm going blonde. Hopefully it turns out well.

I went to the stag a couple of years ago and I got my hair done. I found them them to be pretty average but I would recommend finding a different place to go as the service (well in my experience) was not up to scratch. The good thing about this place though is sometimes you can pop around without an appointment and they will fit you in.

I had one of those horror eperiences at the stag.... I had really healthy hair and was trying to grow it out - so I had been getting extensions while I waited for my hair to grow. Unfortunately my usual hairdresser had moved salons and was uncontactable - so after looking around I decide to go with the stag. This was the worst decision EVER! To cut a very long story short - I spent $500 on my hair at the stag (extensions and loose wave perm) and walked out of there looking like a frizzled poodle! I had a lot of hair fall out overnight from overprocessing and damage and by morning it was matted together. I went back to the stag only to have them treat me as if it was all my fault. They removed the extensions (with acetone free nail polish remover - anyone who has any experience with keratin bonds knows u need acetone!!) and then cut as much of the damaged hair off as possible. I lost roughly 9 inches of length. My hair was so damaged that everytime it got wet it would stretch like elastic and snap. It has taken almost 3 years for my hair to start to look healthy again. I would reccommend the stag to my worst enemies only!
$500 to have my hair ruined - it was heartbreaking.

That's great for you - at the time I went there was no such hand-out!
I have 6 years experience in application and maintenance as well as having them in my own hair for the last 7 years.
The issues I experienced were due to overproccessing of the hair during the perming not the extensions them selves - this was completely the fault of the hairdresser - the customer is not responsible for ensuring hair is not burnt due to over processing. The extensions that I had been very happy with (for the 2-3 days I had them in before the perm) were completely destroyed by the hairdresser by over-proccessing. The whole situation was worsened by the bad treatment when I requested they fix the problem. While the extensions they use are asian hair and not long-wearing compared to many they are great for those that want long hair on the cheap and don't mind if it only lasts a month.

I love my hair hairdresser Toni; she is one of the only hairdressers in Ballarat that I trust. She always suggests what is best for my hair. I love chatting to the girls and David. They are a great bunch of people.

All i had was a hair cut and 2 foils (2 streaks) and it cost over $100. While waiting for the dye to set in, the hair dresser had a friend come in who got full attention. My foils where left in way too long and my hair ended up breaking. 2 days later most of the color had washed out. Very very disappointing service and end result.

thanks for your honesty - it's definately not all sunshine and lollipops at the stag and their attention to customers leaves much to be desired!

Always excellent in their service, creativity, knowledge - great ambience and I think it is good value for what I receive in return - always cut and colour (foils)
