Good place offering decent fish/seafood and chips. Nothing flash, but nice dishes with decent options and good prices.

My fiancé and I thought we would give this place a try as our usual place wasn't open and wanted to try somewhere new. Have to say it is very clean which was nice to see. The lady who served us was lovely and not pushy allowing us to have time to look at the menu and figure out what we wanted. We couldn't see a pack that suited us so we order the fish and chip pack with an extra fish, some dim sims, calamari and potato cakes with chicken salt. As a huge chicken salt fan this was a huge plus for me. Their fish is amazing and some of the best I have had. Crispy batter and beautiful fresh and juicy fish. And real calamari. Yuummm. However we were disappointed when we got home to eat. There was no salt and the amount of chips in the pack was certainly designed for one. We were expecting 'minimal' chips like we normally get so were very glad we ordered extra otherwise there would not have been enough for two. For the price we paid, we didn't find the amount worth it. The fish was absolutely amazing definitely in my top 5 but the price leaves a bit to be desired. Will probably give it another go but we may order differently and order the chips and fish separate rather than a pack. Certainly haven't written this place off

Good old fashion Fish & Chips shop with the pickle onion, salt, amazing tartare sauce. This place is jam-packed heading towards week-end. Staff are very nice and helpful, not pushy regardless how busy they are , they are patient and understanding.

From reading the other reviews it seems that I got them on a bad night, the weather was hot and they were quite busy.
I got the kids pack so it was just fish bites but these were overcooked and that batter was almost on the verge of burnt.
The chips were barely edible as werent cooked properly .
It seems that they are generally pretty good though and they are reasonably cheap so I will definitely give them a 2nd chance

It does happen every so often, a good rated business prepares a bad meal. But well done to you for giving them a second chance, hopefully it will be much better for you :)

The fish was excellent, crispy and beautifully soft inside plus a large serving. The chips were also well cooked, although you could see all the open boxes of frozen chips which wasn't a good look. The service was trying very very hard to please and they were nice. The lady looked a bit stressed and should relax a bit as it might put people off, but overall, loved the food and prices are very reasonable.

OUTSTANDING fresh fish! Blue Grenadier in their signature beer batter is really something else. Great bang for your buck overall, and really tasty.

If you've tolerated mediocre fish and chips and thought there isn't an alternative, well think again.
Try the fresh flake in crispy batter like you could never imagine, cooked in CLEAN oil at the newcomer on the block Fish in a Flash in Centre Rd, Bentleigh. The food is consistently perfectly cooked. Don't settle for less any more. It's worth a long drive to check it out. I've been a customer in Echuca since they opened as Top of the Town, now Melbourne people have the privilege. Tell them I recommended their great service and spotlessly clean premises. Margaret

The first thing I noticed when walking past one day was the cleanliness of Fish in a flash .. I decided to go back the next day for dinner and am so pleased I did ... WOW!! Incredible fish and chips, the best I've ever had. Very friendly staff too. The fish had the most amazing batter that stayed crispy until I got it home and the whole time I was devouring it. They say "you get what you pay for" Fish in a flash may be a slight more expensive than an average fish and chip store .. but it is totally worth the extra few dollars. Even though I have to drive a 5 more minutes to get there, its now the ONLY place I will go! Two thumbs up guys!! DE-LIC-IOUS

A diamond amongst the rough of cheap fish and chip proprietors.

As the story goes, this new shop in Bentleigh is the sister shop of the original 'fish in a flash' in Echuca, and they've been doing it for over 20 years... Well I certainly could tell. It was AMAZING.

The chips were crunchy, the fish was fresh and sweet, the calamari was the real thing (unlike the re-constituted crap found in most places) and it still represented great value for money.

This new shop in Bentleigh opened early 2011 (I think) and I wanted to tell everyone to give it a try... This take away place provides high quality fish and chips at a reasonable price. I'm stoked that I won't have to drive 30kM to get quality fish and chips anymore!

Approximate cost: $12
