I went to Sage with my partner after it was voted one of the best restaurants in Canberra but we were a bit disappointed with the experience. We had made a reservation but our table backed onto the bar so we had to have our conversation over all the staff all evening. The menu was well designed however some dishes seemed overcomplicated. Staff were polite but not very helpful when it came to things like assisting in the choice of wine. We considered it rather overpriced for the quality. Next time we'll go to Boathouse on the Lake instead, much better value for a higher quality meal.

Every time I dine at Sage I have an amazing experience. The service is wonderful, the atmosphere and surrounds beautiful, and the food is exquisite! Whether you have the degustation menu, or dine a la carte, this restaurant never fails to impress.

I would highly recommend Sage to anyone looking for an amazing dining out experience, especially for special occasions. It is expensive but you get your money's worth in quality and wow factor. I love the unique combinations of food, each plate is so fun to explore.

Tips:
- Book well ahead to make sure you can get a table on the date you want
- Arrive a bit earlier and have a drink with your friends at the Mint Garden Bar which is just by the entrance to Sage - they have a lovely selection of drinks to choose from.

Approximate cost: $60 for 2 course meal (see menu on website)

Sage is and has been our favorite restaurant in Canberra for a quite a while now. We love the food, specially degustation menu which gives you a chance to experiment with your pallet. Their chef always use interesting food combinations which put together creates unforgettable flavors. Also lovers of fine Champagne, vine, & spirits won't be disappointed by broad selection, quite unique for Canberra. Furthermore Sage's customer service is absolutely perfect. Patrons get complete attention from Sage's wait staff, who are always ready to satisfy any of your request. This place simply never disappoints. It's a popular place, hence preferably book a week ahead.

Sage is THE fine dining place in Canberra. The interior of the restaurant is classy and charming and the tree-filled bar courtyard is delightful on a warm day (they also have outdoor heaters). The food is the best of all the fine dining places I've been to - creative but still delicious, generously portioned and just fun to eat! It's a great place for a special ocassion or for impressing out of town visitors. When I went they did 4 courses for $80 which was great value for something of its kind, and we left full! Definitely try the pork belly, and the creme brulee if available.

Approximate cost: $40?

Please take my advice and book your table at Sage now! This hidden gem, located in the Gorman House Arts Centre, serves subtle, French-inspired dishes using gormet local produce. The lunch and dinner menus offer a range of delights each paired with a suggested wine. But for a real treat, try the degustation - 6 courses of utter bliss!
Be aware - Sage seats just 40 people, and tends to book out quite early, especially for weekend dinners.
