I have been eating here with my family when we're in the vacinity for over five years and have always found the experience wonderful.
Great Food / Great Staff and great Value for money.
Try the shredded Pork with Mushrooms on Noodles, it's bloody delicious. Great Special Fried Rice too.

I know this restaurant from friend's recommendation. I always have plan to take dinner in this restaurant,but this place always full and busy, so i often do not get the place and decided to cancel eating there. Fortunately, yesterday i went to the restaurant around 4.00 pm . it is not too busy so i get the place . I tried Spicy Chicken Ribs on rice. And the portion of the menu is very big and the taste is excellent. The price of food is not expensive, the price (Spicy Chicken Ribs on rice) is 9.50 and if u want to take away , u must add 0.50 for the boxes. I think it does not matter. The service also really good. I give four thumbs up for this restaurant. I hope they keep quality of the food and service because it can differ them from other restaurant.

Service is 5 star because they are efficient! and people are generally courteous and polite unlike some other asian takeaway type places.

Who does not love Rose Garden? I have been here countless times in the past 12 years and we've probably spent more than a thousand dollars here collectively.

Our defo dish to order is Spicy Chicken Ribs on fried rice with duck and preserved vegetable. This is a "special" order, combining their two popular dishes, and will cost $15 but oh-so-worth it!

Definitely a great gem of a place. Rose Garden has been my dinner place to go during my uni times a few years back. I still visit often as the food is great. They do really good cantonese BBQ and other dishes at a discounted price.

We've ordered BBQ Duck, Thai Green Curry and BBQ pork with vegetables. The BBQ Duck tastes great, but it wasn't as crispy as I have thought. The BBQ pork with vegetables is quite delicious, but the curry is a letdown. It wasn't as aromatic as what a curry should be.

However, having said that, the service is really good! We've ordered our dishes and they come out five-ten minutes later. And the waitresses were friendly and were willing to provide tips on what we should choose while they took down our orders.

And the food isn't that expensive either. Which is good!

Tried this place after reading so many positive reviews on other sites and it still didn't disappoint. Fantastic experience, great service, WOW food and great values for money.

Been going to this little takeaway shop since my uni times. Back then there were only 2 eatery along that strip and rose garden was the most popular. Now there are heaps more restaurants but rose garden is still my fave. But these days they're getting way too popular, always have to line up to get seats. My all time favorite dishes are : Spicy salt chicken ribs on rice and Roast duck on rice. The spicy salt chicken ribs seem to be very popular with other diners too. Even though they're always busy, the foods always come out at an amazing speed.

As an international student from China, the study in Melbourne uni are just not complete if you have not been to the all mighty Rose Garden. Years after years, in the last decades, the neighboring stalls had changed hands numerous times, this humble little take away stoned in the original time space. The only difference is it is getting more crowded, and that once quiet strip of Elizabeth street is gradually becoming a vibrant area. What used to be a overseas students' canteen now gain the acceptance of more the general public - it's not uncommon to see customers with suits nowadays, Rose Garden not only maintain it's best essence - the price, the quality, but perhaps also the collective memories of many of us customers who once in a while still crave for not only the aroma but the feeling of revisiting this trusty old friend.

- The reason I give 3/5 Service is because there are simply no service at all (basically you would not be expecting much service for a $9 dish take away joint like this anyway, it's pretty much you order->you eat as fast as you can->you pay and make room for another customer who have been on queue looking at you like a poor little puppy), not a place you want to go for a date at all

The pros:
- CHEAP!
- a variety of chinese take away dishes to choose from
- it taste good (the BBQ are no less than pacific house in south yarra, with much cheaper price)
- pre-order by phone and pick up (as finding a parking in normal hours can be quite painful in the area, unless you ride a bike)
- service are fast, in fact, service are ultra fast (they want you out of the restaurant more than you do)

The cons:
- the menu are not very flexible - you can order pork chop with black pepper sauce on rice, but you can't alter it into chicken
- there's always a queue if you want to eat in during dining hours
- there are never enough staffs to accommodate all the tables (correct me if i am wrong, i recognize there are only about 2-3 serving staffs)
- no drink menu, the most you get are soft drinks from the fridge

Food is fast and good. Prices is good. Services is good. The place is too small and is very crowded at lunch and dinner time. After all is worth to give this a try.
