Having been blessed to be born during the era of vinyl records and real record shops, Rocking Horse Records is a real gem and one of the few remaining examples of this almost extinct off-line retail genre. Established in 1975, Rocking Horse Records has been meeting the needs of Brisbane's independent record buying public ever since. Threatened with closure in mid 2011 because of raising retail rents in the Brisbane CBD, a vigorous campaign by supporters saved the store. This says a great deal about the importance of Rocking Horse Records.

At the front of the store are new CDs, magazines, posters, T-shirts, books, and rock'n'roll paraphernalia. It's the rear of the store that I love the most, though. It's here that you can find thousands of vinyl LPs, both new and second hand, together with new and second hand independent CDs. I've picked up a number of wonderful platters of vinyl from this store, and whilst at times pricey, it's worth it for something that is now very collectable.

Rocking Horse Records also sell record player stylii, record cleaners and concert tickets. I like rocking horse, it has all the soundtrack I look ages for. They are always willing to help you find what your looking for, I love their shirts and badges and that are all well priced. Well recommended.

This store has a lot of hard to find music that you thought you'd never find, but at the same time they are often out of a lot of stock. It really sucks that all the goths in brisbane seem to be hanging out at the front of the store these days, but once youre inside it's not an issue!

Dope! These guys are awesome. Only place to find all underground and local releases and everyone who works there knows what they are talking about and are musicians themselves. Best place for Aus Hip Hop. Len is a champ.

If you're into underground music, these guys are the BEST source for hard to find music, they have great stock and if they don't have it, they will order it in. I've found cds there that I haven't found in some underground Sydney music stores, this is your one stop shop for avante-garde, underground cult music.

Rockinghorse is a really great source for music with heaps of rarities and stuff you wouldn't find in a chain music store. However, I too have noticed the incredibly rude staff. I was once scoffed at for asking a question and I haven't returned there since. The staff friendliness level has certainly taken a big dive since I started shopping there 12 years ago. I suggest they get rid of their attitudes and treat their customers with respect.

A favourite of mine for years although the staff aren't like they use to be. A great variety of hard to get albums. I just wish it was in the suburbs for easy parking.

This is a great store for new and old music at reasonable prices. The staff aren't very friendly at first, but if approached with a query they are helpful and know what they are talking about

i visit this shop often. they have a huge variety of cds, dvds and records. this is also the place to grab tickets to shows and local magazines and releases. they sell new and second hand so there is always something new when you go in.
