Myself and two friends decided to have lunch here as it was recommended to us by friends that had dinner there a few weeks before. But we were all very disappointed with the meals! I had the calamari salad, it should be listed on the menu as salad with a tiny bit of calamari. The calamari was like chewing on leather and the dressing made it hard to swallow as it was not the best taste, the steak sandwich was just dreadful, when my friend cut into it, it was raw, not rare....raw!!! it probably had 2 min. on either side and that was it. To their benefit when we called the waitress over she was very surprised to see the meat between the bread and was very apologetic over it and saw to it that it was replaced. My other friend who ordered the chicken parma had the best meal of all three, but she said that it didn't taste all that great. All in all nice atmosphere but that was it, their food was a lot to be desired.

Approximate cost: $17.00

Hi KristyE, thanks for your well written comments. It continues to amaze us as to why/how eateries are incapable of securing ‘quality’ seafood and cook it accordingly. There is simply no excuse for serving ‘over-cooked’ seafood and we cannot help but wonder how many people have been ‘put-off’ consuming calamari, simply because of a chef’s failure to treat it with respect and not over cook it. Thanks for the heads-up! Reeces

I wish to say that after dining in the bistro and ordering 2 x squid salt & pepper meals as well as a bowl of soup and steak sand, We were very dissatisfied with the Squid meals, the meals consisted of portions of approx 8 squid sitting on a large quantity of salad leave very little else,, We left the Bistro both saying how very disappointing this experience was and actually left feeling quite hungry, this was one of the worst meals we have experienced and will find it very difficult to go back and dine there. what we wanted was Calamari rings with chips and salad, when I spoke with one of the ladies who worked there, she said that they don't have Calamari Rings chips and salad, unless its ordered as a platter..I told her that I thought this meal was very bad and nothing further took place. I do have to say that we have been at the Red Lion Hotel on many occasions for drinks and nibbles and found that to be very nice..It was a very disappointing end to what was a pleasant evening

Approximate cost: $17.60

Hi Noelb, clearly a disappointing experience and in relation to your complaint, an inadequate reaction from staff. Thanks for the heads-up! Reeces

This place has a great relaxing atmosphere including a range of seating options. Good range of meals (the wedges are good), however the ice-cream was poor quality and value. Generally a nice place which I will visit again.

Great pub for a casual after work drink, meal in front of the fire, or outside drinks or dining, good range of meals including gluten free options and everybodys fave parmi, and a good range of beers on tap

I have visited the Red Lion hotel numerous times over the past year, and have found the food and the service to be consistently good. It can get a bit noisy at times when there are a lot of people in the bistro section, but otherwise you get a great feed every time you visit - plus they have several gluten free options available, and actually understand what you are talking about!!!

Approximate cost: $20.00

Good food, great place to kick back with a beer and enjoy the footy. most meals I have tried have been pretty good and at reasonable prices. parma night is a bit of a let down as there are better parmas around town (more topping required, a bit dry).

Approximate cost: $16.00

The food is pretty good most of the time, can be a bit slow if they're busy, but overall it's a trendy spot to have a quiet or loud drink just about anytime.

The Red Lion is a great place to go for some quiet drinks. They have Fox sports on almost always for those footy fans and also modern background music with film clips playing on some TVs too. The bar has a good variety of beers and other beverages and there are comfy little tables and chairs (and not so comfy tables/chairs too). The bar does meals from a small menu which are pretty good; the wedges, nachos and sweet chilli pizza are yum but the chicken parma could do with more sauce and the spaghetti bolagnaise wasn't very good. They also have a bistro with table service but I haven't tried that yet.

Approximate cost: $16.00

I recently went back to the Red Lion to check out the salt and pepper squid that had been raved about in a WOMOW rating. It was delicious. I wouldn't have normally tried that at a pub like this and really enjoyed my meal.
