1 review about Ramenya

In my opinion, Ramenya is one of the best Japanese restaurant to eat tonkotsu (pork broth) ramen noodle in Melbourne. Of course, you can't compare the taste to the one in Japan, but when it comes to Melbourne, it easily beat most competitors. They use handmade noodles (not instant), and the pork broth is cooked for many hours (no instant soup stock). The taste is thick but less salty compared to the one in Japan (I tried lots of ramen while I was travelling around Hokkaido, Japan and they were super salty). In regards to eating Tonkotsu ramen at Ramenya, I found that it taste better when you add this chilli paste that they provided on the table (the one that looks like Malaysian chilli sambal). The other thing I like about the ramen is the soft charshu (sliced pork meat). It's sooo soft it melted in my mouth. I also quite enjoy the seafood gyoza and the takoyaki (octopus meat balls). I believe they make their own takoyaki (unlike other shops who just used frozen ones). I also love the green tea thickshake (the only other place that has a nice green tea thickshake that I know is Samurai in Glenferrie Rd). So if you are craving for one and you are in the city area, you might want to visit this place. Service is okay. They are always pleasant but probably in need of more training. The price is very reasonable. In fact, in Melbourne, you usually pay more than what they charged for a bowl of tonkotsu ramen. Overall, a good experience and will be back whenever I wanted to eat some tonkotsu.

Approximate cost: $10-12
