We had lunch here despite my last visit being disappointing 2 years ago when I was served a dip that had gone off. Tried again as people have been saying it's good. We had 4 share dishes-wedges, nice crispy and hot, after all who can't deep fry things? Tempura prawns, nice and fresh but the salad was dressed in pure oil, no acid at all. Nachos-terrible, worst I've ever had. Flavourless cardboard like corn chips, an Italian based salsa (??) guacamole that was just mashed avocado, no seasoning whatsoever and they weren't hot all the way through, unlike the plate. Then the zucchini fritters, floury and flavourless and when we turned them over, blackened and burnt. Really? We did tell the waitress who offered to get us more but by then we didn't want to wait another 30 minutes for something that ordinary. This place is only good for coffee and cake. I will never eat there again-over it.

Very good customer service considering how busy they were. There were shows in the adjoining theatre which meant the restaurant was booked to capacity. Food we ordered was superb. The fish n Chips were delicious as was the porterhouse steak with red wine jus. Then we sat back and enjoyed a port by the fire and finished off with excellent coffee and macaroons. I would definitely recommend Raffael's to all family and friends.

Average local surburban cafe. The menu is fairly extensive with lots of options for groups and families. It is a fairly large commercial space, not much in terms of atmosphere. However, it is suitable for the its suburban audience, wanting reliable food options, reasonable prices and commercial service.

I have been there only twice and both times I was very disappointed. I will not be going back again. The food was very poor but I do like the look of the cafe inside but that's about it

After hearing all good things about Raffaels coffee and meaning to give it a go for some time, we finally decided on brunch last week.

Upon arrival we were told by an obviously overwhelmed staff member that due to a private function we could only be seated outside, which was no problem as we intended to sit out there anyway.

We were seated and ordered a coffee and a coke while we reviewed the menu. 10 minutes later the baffled waitress returned to take our orders, no problem.

30 minutes passed and the meals finally arrived, not a huge deal as they were clearly busy inside and the food looked great. But, still no drinks.

10 minutes on we managed to flag down the waitress and asked how the drinks were going, she said she would see what the problem was.

15 minutes further she appeared with what turned out to be a hot chocolate and a diet coke. We reminded her that our order was a coffee and a coke, she appologised and walked away leaving the wrong drinks on the table.

At this point we didn't know if the appology meant she was going to rectify the problem or if she was sorry that we would just have to deal with what we got.

20 minutes later our meals were finished and she had not been spotted again, the two wrong drinks still sitting on our table.

We walked inside, had our bill modified and settled up. Probably would not bother again, Werrbee is not short on cafe's.

Still dont know what the coffee is like...

such an extensive review! thanks!

Hi JonesyAU, thanks for a detailed, well written and articulate review. Certainly sounds like the waitress in question was having a ‘bad’ day. Appreciated the 'heads-up' and look forward to perusing your other reviews. Regards, Reeces

Enjoyed a pre-show coffee and cake at Raffael's tonight. Their macadamia chocolate cheesecake gets the thumbs up, and as this was visit number three, I'm now confident to back their coffee aswell. Consistently good, maybe a little too much head on our lattes for the sticklers, but really silky and just the right temperature. The staff are always friendly and the whole place has a funky vibe and a great outdoor undercover area. Who needs to travel all the way over to the inner CBD suburbs for a great cafe with this on offer in Werribee? Bonus perks - free parking in the surrounding streets and markedly less pretention. We'll be back.

Food here is always cooked to order. Service at lunch times is reasonably quick. Nice and warm in winter and al fresco for summer. Menu changes on a regular basis.

After driving here from Ballarat we were met with rude staff who implied we should think ourselves lucky we were getting a seat there. Very abrupt service and we were made to feel like we were an inconvenience to them. Meals were poor. I ordered a veal dish and there is no way the meat I was served was veal, it was very tough. My partner ordered a steak which came way overcooked and was tiny. The accompanying mash was substandard as well. We will NEVER consider going back here and are totally confused by their supposed good reputation.

Hi Toonunit, thanks for another well written review. In our opinion, there is simply no excuse for retaining ‘rude’ staff and much like yourself, we wouldn’t be too impressed with such service after commuting from Ballarat. Obviously a very disappointing experience. Regards, Reeces

My experiences ; I normally visit Raff's with friends for catch ups.
The food is always great so compliments to the chef.
In my experiences, It generally took a while for food to come out (eg 30minutes), but the food is worth the wait, I have yet to be disappointed by the food.
The service has been disappointing.
I love friendly smiles when you walk in to a restaurant and when ordering. I didn't get that here.
I always feel like I am interrupting their personal conversations over the bar. It has been some times hard to get some of the staffs attention if we needed any thing extra (ie drink refills, condiments etc) as they were chatting away behind the bar. This has happened a few times now, with the last occassion being in July on a quiet week end. On this occasion there were only 5 other people in the restaurant! It's good to have a chat at work with work mates, but it felt like they were quite disinterested in serving their customers at that time. Maybe I just go in at the wrong times?

Overall, the good ; Love the lamb salad. Reasonable coffees and a great variety of cakes.
The bad; Just the service really. Hate to sound harsh as I am sure there are friendly waiters there but I haven't had that experience as yet. Hopefully next time ( if there is a next time)

Hi Rachaels4, we enjoyed reading your detailed review. Given that a happy (smiling) staff member costs the same amount of money to employ as an inattentive (non-smiling) one, I find it astonishing that such individuals retain employment. Given the reviews on WOMO (and other rating websites), it appears as though the afore-mentioned business struggles with supplying a professional and competent level of customer service. In response to your comments, no consumer should ever be made feel as though they are ‘interrupting communications between employees’, nor wonder whether they visited at the ‘wrong’ time. Either the service component is adequate or not and it would appear that this business is ‘let down’ by the continued employment of unprofessional staff. Thanks for the heads-up! Regards, Reeces
