Good food, good location, good people
It's a shame for all the road works happening currently, they don't deserve this limitation to all their foot traffic.
So this is a shout out to them. Get on ya horse and get to this establishment

Hats off to this one.
I loved the minute oyster blade with creme fraiche and capers.
Just wish I could get together 10 people and do that suckling pig banquet!!!

I've eaten here twice more since I reviewed them last a few years ago. I feel like they have grown since I first visited; they have ironed out some of the kinks and developed their menu.

One thing they still haven't ironed out, though, is the slight awkwardness of the downstairs walk-in-only eating area. One shares a bench with others, and as I eat with my left hand and most eat with their right, I find myself struggling not to bump elbows with the person to my left.

However, the food is heavenly and worth this slight frustration. Most recently, I had a scotch fillet with mushroom sauce: pretty unadventurous of me, on such a fancy menu. But it was beautiful, and everything that you'd expect from press. Perfectly cooked, with elegant presentation. A real crossover between fine dining and casual elegance; another place we don't have to dress up to the nines to enjoy.

Definitively worth a night out if you love great food and great service! Decor and ambiance add to the overall excellent experience. Will go again.

We had a lovely evening here. Visiting from Melbourne, this restaurant would fit right in with all of the popular food places we're used to locally. For entree we enjoyed perfectly cooked chargrilled squid, which came with a delightfully smoky hummus. For main course I ordered the confit duck leg. The flavours all worked wonderfully together, a common theme among all of our dishes for the night. Unfortunately the meat was dry and overcooked, something you absolutely do not expect, particularly if it has been cooked confit. My partner plucked up the courage to order the Press Mixed Grill, and did not regret it! Any chef who can cook offal well deserves high praise! The dish was well balanced and the sides worked perfectly with the meat they were accompanying. The tongue and minute steak were well seasoned and grilled perfectly. The brains and sweetbreads were deepfried and crispy on the outside, and matched perfectly with the bitter cornichons throughout the potato salad. Paired with all of this was morcilla which was absolutely moreish with poached egg and sweet caramelised onion. For dessert we chose to share the cardamon bavarois. It wasn't too overpowering and was set beautifully. We also enjoyed some well made cocktails and their wine list was also impressive. Well worth a visit- we'll be back next time we're in town!

The food tasted fine, but the wait staff did not have much knowledge on many items on the menu and had to continually go off to the kitchen to find answers. the pork buns were very nice, a shame they dont make the buns or mayonaise thats in them...

the prices of the food were as you would expect from such a well talked about restaurant, but fresher in house made food is easier and cheaper to come by at many other restaurants..

Approximate cost: $45.00

If you want a quiet dinner at a private table then Press* is not for you. However if you are into a great (albeit loud) atmosphere where you can talk, drink, share food and have fun...Press* has hit the mark. Firstly, there are these great 12 or so seater long bar/bench sections and with 4 of us we quickly made friends on either side. That was part of the fun! The food was great...nice selection and well priced with something for everyone. As for the drinks the beers are boutique so don't expect a Corona or anything standard but I tried the Brooklyn Beer and it was great. Wine list is very solid as well (we tried 2 bottles...one red and one white) and made a few friends in the process. We were the last to leave at some very late hour so that tells you we must have had a good time.

The cocktails at press are so perfect.
The food is completely amazing.
The mini buns, the croquettes are perfect entrees and we had a mind-blowing slow cooked beef thing with a mac and cheese and roasted veg side.

I was pretty toasted by the time we had our mains, so my memory is not clear about the names - but it was one of the loveliest dinners I've had in a while!

The low point of the dinner was the cramped and awkward seating. We were sat at long tables, where patrons sit facing one another, side by side with other diners, cafeteria style. The tables had too many seats squished in them, and as I eat mainly with my left hand, and the man next to me used his right hand, we banged into one another four or five times, which is just ridiculous for such a high end restaurant. Sometimes restaurants try way too hard to be innovative and forward thinking... The seating just sucked.

But the food is so worth it, the restaurant is pretty, the wine list is great, the servers are polite and attentive, in a way that high -end restaurants should always ALWAYS be.

Do check out the menu and the expense before you book at press. The food is so innovative and delicious it's worth it, but the dent it will make in your budget may not be!

Approximate cost: $43 including sides plus more for drinks etc - around 75-90 pp for a full meal

I went to this place last year for my birthday with my girlfriend. the environment was nice upstairs, but downstairs its somethings is a pub. the food over there is nice as it is a high end restaurant but what i really love is the pork bun. I am pretty sure, everybody who went there and ate the pork bun will fall in love with it. The staffs was very friendly, always asked us everything is alright or not, quite attentive. In addition, they wished me happy birthday as well =). In terms of price, not everybody can afford it. However, if u can afford it, it's a nice place to have a meal over there, especially during special events like anniversary, birthday etc

This has to be one of the best places to eat in Adelaide. The menu changes and the handful of times we have been there the staff have been excellent and very professional. This place has a great Melbourne vibe to it, with it's share tables and no booking policy (downstairs). Whenever we get out of town guests this is one the first places we go for dinner.

Approximate cost: $35
