If I could give no stars at all I would. Although (after 18 months) we are happy with the outcome, it was incredibly stressful and difficult to get 300+ faults fixed, as identified by our independent inspector. This is because the faults were ignored on the first 2 reports and the inspector kept building over them. In the end we had a slab out of level, with foundations built on it. I can't even begin to tell you the issues. An entire wall had to be pulled down and rebricked, windows reinstalled several times, tiling pulled up... However, when they took the dodgy site supervisor away and gave us 'the good one' we were on track to happiness, albeit a long slow track.
Don't be blinded by the amazing sales people. They will bump up your site costs to ridiculous $$, the '3 coats of paint' is barely 2, the cost cutting in the building process breaches regulations and yet their inspector passes it.
As well as these issues:
Our house design flagged town planning because it had a high gable (single story).
PD didn't apply for the AHD levels and this maxed out our town planning permit time.
All in all, it wasn't an enjoyable process at all BUT we do love our house very much despite it.

They are ok. Reasonably happy with overall quality but:
Carpenter changed placement of windows in one room.
Standard hot water service installed not upgraded option.
Standard heating unit installed not upgraded option.
Standard overhead cupboards in kitchen installed not upgraded option.
Various electrical issues. (Lack of attention to detail and safety standards)
Plumbing issue where poor quality fitting was used.
Ongoing issues with spouting and down pipes.

You have to keep on top of what they are doing. Had 3 separate building supervisors and two administrators.

After 5 months still have a long list of defects that need to be resolved. Nothing too major but have holes in the wall where they removed the standard heating controller and replaced it with the programmable unit.

Approximate cost: $300

We built our house with Porter Davis and it was a complete nightmare. Once they had made their sale, we were ignored. Their displays are lovely and deceptively high quality. We had very low quality trades, particularly the plaster and brickwork which we still get negative comments about. The windows are paper thin, you can have a full conversation with someone outside through a closed window. Very poor quality overall.

Porter davis was our second home builder and were a pleasure to deal with. From the beginning the sales person was fantastic both with her service and communication and kept us updated at all times. The building stage was great and althought we hit a bump halfway through construction, the building superviser did everything he could to resolve the issue which was great to see.All mistakes and hiccups were dealt with and resolved.Overall it was professional, well communicated and friendly service, great builder.

We chose PD because we liked the overall house of our friend and we thought it was a great built. So we had PD for our own home. We had some concerns while moving but what was impressive with them was they fixed it! So overall experience with PD is GREAT!
