We had lunch at Poacher's Pantry today, and were a little underwhelmed. We arrived early, as did another party, and were made to feel awkward about it. The staff should be aware that their rural location means that first-time guests may be unsure about how long it will take to get there.

The food was fine, but I felt that the Poacher's Pantry didn't live up to its reputation. On the day we were there, they seemed short-staffed, which may explain why we were initially billed for the wrong table.

The location of Poachers Pantry is just gorgeous. A lovely pond by the door, sheep frolicking through the paddocks. Unfortunately, I arrived during the week whilst they were open but was notified they only served coffee, not food, before midday (it was 11am). I was on holiday and had been bought here by family. It was a little dissappointing considering we'd checked their opening times but instead had to settle for pre-packaged biscuits to settle our hunger before we moved on. I've heard food raved about which is why I havent let this experience effect the ratings on this review.

This has to be one of the loveliest places on earth to eat at. You can sit out in the sun on the deck and you are surrounded by the Australian bush and the rolling hills of the Canberra region. The food is amazing and they smoke their own meats which you can buy and take home. You will not be sorry in having lunch out at Hall

Delicious! Food is imaginative and interesting with really delicious flavours and good sized portions. Really enjoyed it. Bookings are essential - its a really popular place. Ask for a table away from the door though.

I love poachers pantry! In the good weather I would encourage dining outdoors to enjoy the great location and atmosphere. The food is sublime - would recommend going for breakfast - and the coffee is just as good! Poachers also offers a great selection of meats and cheeses to buy. Great place to take family or anyone you want to introduce to canberra!

Yum yum yum! Been there a few times. Went again today for brunch. It was amazing! So delicious. I prefer brunch over their lunch menu. And their coffee, Oh so good. Great atmosphere and surrounding. Highly recommended! Give it a try

The atmosphere and quality of the produce are the strengths of this gem of a place just outside of Canberra. The menu is very tempting all round, and the shop is full of great gourmet - my son loved the chocolate coated snakes, and my wife was pretty impressed with the coffee (Jasper Coffee).

Approximate cost: $25
