Massively disappointing, ordered a scallop and pork belly entree, the pork belly was so over cooked that I could barely tell the difference from a fried biscuit.

Also ordered a pan fried rib eye special for the main, quite possibly one of the worst steak experienced I have ever had, the meat didn't seem fresh, has a strange stale meat taste and the texture of the meat was definitely not right. $42 steak main, you definitely expect more quality.

To make the experience worse, when the waiter asked how was dinner, I told them that the meat didn't seem fresh and tasted off, he took the plates away and then proceeded to give me a bill for the full amount without saying a further word about my feedback on the food and the possibly stale meat. I proceeded to pay the full bill and left behind what was a terrible dining experience.

Won't be going back again anytime soon and definitely won't be recommending it to anyone.

I have dined here quite a few times now, mostly just with my husband but most recently I went there with a group for a family occasion. This is a lovely place to go for special occasions as the staff make us feel very spoilt. The staff have been very attentive on every occasion and were happy to answer our questions about the dishes we were considering ordering and they are always happy to offer suggestions too. The service is just unbeatable. As for the food everything I have ever eaten there has been absolutely delicious, although my favourite dish and the one that I ordered last was a creamy seafood chowder soup, I would defiantly recommend it, although it isn't always on the menu permanently, it is one of a few meals which seem to differ over the seasons. I can honestly say this soup is the tastiest soup of any kind that I have ever had! The atmosphere is quite classy, it is fine dining here. The prices are a little expensive, however the food and the experience is worth it. Paymasters is one of my favourite places to go for a treat in Newcastle.

Excellent Our group of 30 was catered for extremely well. Fresh, creative food served hot and quick. They have a bill splitting policy and issue numbers for each person in a group to run their own bill on - first time I've ever seen this and a great idea to solve the problems that arise in bill splitting.

Went there for the 1st time.
Great atmosphere and location. Staff were attentive, though there didn't seem to be much communication between the waitstaff as we were sometimes asked the same things 2-3 times.
Food was delicious, a bit more on the expensive side but well worth what you pay for. They also do a kids menu which offers meals for smaller kids, as well older kids.

The best, the best, the best. We have been to loads of restaurants from sydney to the hunter and never really been that happy, Paymasters however was just beautiful, i cant fault it at all. The meals were just devine, simple, fresh food cooked to perfection, the flavours were amazing, i had the eye fillet with beef cheek on a bed of mash with horseradish and shallots with wilted spinach and a jus and let me tell you.....i am still thinking about it. For desert we shared a deep pan pancake with pecan and banana with vanilla bean icecream and butterscotch sauce......omg yum, the pancake was light and fluffy and sort of crispy at the bottom and sides.......we are so going back

Approximate cost: $40

Went here for Christmas breakfast with the girls and it was fabulous. This is the second time we've had a 'do' here and it wont be the last. It's not the cheapest menu around but has a lot of variety and full of flavours. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the overall service was terrific.

Lovely place for a long lunch or special occasion. Food was really nice and a little expensive but I think the atmosphere makes up for this.
