11 reviews about Paula's Choice

I have been buying Paula's Choice products for over 10 years, and have saved $$$ and my skin has never looked better. Paula's Choice products contain no perfume or other irritants which is important to me as my skin has become more sensitive as I age. Their products really do work - I can't recommend them highly enough!

I should point out that the Paula's Choice Australian website was shut down in early 2014, and has now reopened under the management of the parent company in the United States. The new website is far easier to use, so the negative reviews here may relate to the old site.

When I first discovered Paula's Choice, it looked like any other emerging skincare brand and I wasn't quite sure of how legit the products were. The site is a little difficult to work around and there's a lot going on, so maybe the site could be made more simple and look a bit more clean. But I do love how new customers are offered 5 skincare samples of their choice (excluding makeup) so you get to try their products before committing to full size ones. I received a skin balancing pack which I thought would help my blemishes as stated on the website but it really didn't do much for them. My skin did feel less oily and looked more fresh though so thumbs up for that. I also like how their Facebook page is very friendly and you can always post questions about their products if you're unsure how to use them etc. You can also post a complaint and they're good with solving issues and value customer service. Overall, like any skincare range do your research before committing and make sure you know your skin type well.

I got a free sample from these guys to start with, and before it had even arrived, I was slammed with several emails a day from them. Whilst satisfied with the cleanser I used, it really put me off continuing to buy from them. I'd rather go elsewhere than be bombarded with junk emails

Paula's choice was nice enough to send me a sample of creams to help with dry skin as i suffer dry skin from time to time and have it affect me by cracking my skin and leaving tiny cuts that cause so much pain. But upon using these creams i have yet to have dry skin again, i have continued to use and brought some from her website at an affordable price, so i will say these creams are worth trying if you suffer from dry skin, exema,or any other skin irritations

I'm picky when I comes to sunscreens so I was pretty disappointed with Paula's Pure Mineral Sunscreen SPF15.

I wear make up during the day so a sunscreen that can compliment my make up is a must. I've experienced some shocking sunscreens, where it peels off in flakes when I start applying make up to it (which meant I had to rewash my face and start again, making me late for work). Thankfully Paula's one was sticky enough that my make up stayed put. I bought it based on the pure mineral (zinc & titanium) sunscreen base since my sensitive skin can't stand chemical sunscreens for very long. But, it was VERY sticky, so much so that it made my skin feel super greasy, shiny and when I tried to take it off, I had to scrub my face twice to get all the oily residue off. I like how it stays put, but taking it off is a pain.

I like fragrance free products so it's great that Paula didn't add any. Shame about a mineral sunscreen that isn't organic though, but Paula did denounce organics. But personally I prefer organic botanical over the pesticide loaded botanicals.

The consistency of this sunscreen is good, it's smooth and oozes out nicely. But the sheen that comes with it is frightening. I have combination skin, so it starts off normal in the morning, but by noon on a warm day, my nose is like a beacon, covered in a thin layer of sebum. This sunscreen adds neon lights to that beacon nose of mine. As well as to my forehead and upper lip area. This product is definitely not matt, but greasy (even though it's not a thick sunscreen)

The Pros:
It stays put under make up and you can't sweat it off.
The price is pretty affordable.
It's mineral based not chemical sunscreen based.
It's fragrance free which is a must for sensitive skin.

The Cons:
When I said it stays put, I really mean it stays put - like super glue. I have sensitive skin so washing my face twice just to clean the product off leaves my face red and sore.
It feels oily, like buttering your face grease oily.
It leaves my skin (even with matt foundation on top) really shiny. My coworker asked if I had put shimmer lotion on my nose the day I wore it to work!
It's not organic. I really would've liked some of the ingredients to be organic but oh well.

I hope Paula changes the product to one that's less greasy, who knows.. she may be reading it :)

Love the products, great for problem skin of any age group. Recommended to me by my mother and now I recommend it to others.

I read Paula's book after seeing her on the news critiquing skincare and make up products. She provides plenty of good ratings for other major cosmetic lines but the one she brought out in response to people's requests really works. The line promises only what can actually be done with skin care science and your products arrive quickly. They deliver on what they say and if, like me, you've suffered bad acne then you're in for some serious improvement. Paula's choice is both educational and effective. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Approximate cost: $30

Absolutely fantastic skin care. No hype. The products do what they say they will do, very realistic about the results. No fancy fillers and fragrances, great quality products at good prices. I have been using these for years, I never use any other products because I can't trust what is in other company's ingredients. I have problematic skin and it the best stuff I have found short of going to a dermatologist and getting prescription lotions. I also love her advice on what other cosmetics claim and what they actually achieve. I am a bit upset that she doesn't publish the annual "Don't go to the cosmetics counter without me" anymore, that was my bible.
