I was very beautiful surpried of this experience. A lot of information provided on the tour. The pretended arrest was adding a bit of a spice for the day. A bit expensive but worth all the money. The family price 65 aud.

This place gives me the heeby jeebies! BUT in a good way! I loved looking in the cells and examining the scratched graffiti from inmates from the 19th century. They also have death masks which eerily have human hair still stuck in them (gross)...
I had read reviews of a so called 'ghost' haunting the gaol and pics of it in blogs. Determined to find it, I did! But it was a fake clear statue...fortunately! Great place to learn a bit of history, some quite sad...

My family and I went to visit the Old Melbourne Gaol two years ago and we were amazed how interesting the place was. We got to visit the former City Watch House and participate in a mock court proceeding (where my oldest boy got to be one of the prisoners), we were arrested by a Charge Sergeant and locked up in the Cells. This was a very interesting experience.

My children and their friends also got a chance to put on Ned Kellys armour. We also took photos of the kids with a prison number.

A very interesting and worthwhile experience for anyone to visit and find out the history of long ago.
