My husband bought a 1997 Mercedes for $10,000 with no warranty, we had car for 2days and there was something very wrong with it, took it back for them to check which they addmitted there was a problem they said there was nobody in Nowra that they trusted to touch and if we could take it to Transmition Specialist in Goulburn whom we knew. Which we did at our expence, they told the dealers that there was no problem with the gearbox it was the motor, they didn't believe him and took it to someone in Sydney, they got back to us and said there was major work to be done to motor & gearbox and they would go halves at $5,000 we refused and went to Dep Cosumer Afffairs. They were wonderful and got them to fix it as it was not of merchantable quality. We got our car back after 5mths and the dealers told us that there was an Airflow Meter that needed to be replaced at $1600 total, What a nightmare.
