My Canberra Plumber provided prompt, professional and friendly service when one of our hot water tanks needed replacing. They were also very good in addressing any follow-up queries or concerns.

The downside was that it took a long time and was expensive. The house and plumbing dates back to 1966. In the past I have been able to get by with an eel clean every so often. This time it had gone too far. Sam correctly diagnosed the problem and the solution (dig up and replace). He put together a good team. There was a week's delay because of plumber's family problems but finally work began 26 July. Mark and Darcy did an excellent job of digging to expose the problem by midday. At 4.00pm Ash turned up and worked into the dark, carefully replacing the Y link, impressive. The system worked. Next day Mark and Darcy finished the riser and refilled the hole. The work was well done. Thanks to all.

Avoid at all costs!

This company contacted me through Hipages under the banner of Priority 1 - I think they are a subsidiary. They were very quick to come out and quote and the guy that came out seemed nice and appeared to know his stuff. But that is where the good news ends. The quote was provided on site and was considerably higher than I was expecting. When I asked if he could email it to me he said he'd have to come out again and get me to sign it. He seemed knowledgeable and trustworthy and you really don't like to think people are out to rip you off so I signed up on the spot and paid a deposit :( Some research after the fact left me very worried about what I had just done. Suffice to say my worries were well-founded. I had been told the work would be carried out within 10 days - it took six weeks for someone to finally arrive after a couple of follow-ups on my part. They call themselves My Canberra Plumber but they sent a sub-contractor from Wollongong to do the job. I had some concerns a few days after the work was completed and I tried for two weeks to get them to send someone out to have a look. I was unable to speak to anyone on the phone, only email correspondence that seems to be pro forma. They even wanted me to give them my credit card details before they would send someone out! I have now forwarded a complaint to Access Canberra and I believe they have been on the radar for some time. How are companies like this even allowed to continue operating?
