Great coffee at a convenient location. A relatively typical brekkie/lunch selection is of good quality too.
one thing that stood out for this cafe is the serice - it's nothing short of perfect! all the staff are friendly and prompt :D
amazing location, cute atmosphere
ordered their pumpkin and caramelised onion sandwich and their chocolate cheesecake - absolutely loved both dishes, and paid $13.50 for both
Approximate cost: $20
In a very central location, it is a good place to meet people for a casual coffee or meal. Service is reasonable by cafe standards.
On one side of the cafe, they have bench space, small coffee tables, the coffee machine & a display counter where baguettes, wraps, cakes etc are stored, for those wanting to eat something quick or takeaway.
On the other side, is a long communal table and bistro tables, table service and a menu with the usual salads, soups, pastas etc.
Our food was alright, however servings are a little small.
Beetroot, goat cheese & walnut salad was $17.50
Soup (a small-medium sized bowl) was $11
The fact that it is a cafe, and the casual service levels (friendly, but minimally present students in t-shirts) do not justify the slightly elevated prices.
Approximate cost: $17
Thanks for that info.

This is a great place to meet friends for lunch. I have done this several times. I have their baguette - they're lovely. I'd get the foccaccia if they didn't squash it flat beyond recognition in the press toaster. Be warned, though, many people seem to know about how good it is here, as it is usually busy! The food is fresh and good and service also good. Great coffee. I recommend it.
Approximate cost: $15
quick dropped by to this cafe before i enter to state library for study.. Great atmosphere... very interesting decorations, indoor & outdoor sitting area. ordered take away coffee - very quick in service.
Approximate cost: $3.50
Had a brief but yummy coffee at Mr Tulk last week, and it was a long time coming - I've been meaning to check out this CBD cafe for a long time. Admittedly on this occasion I didn't have a chance to sample any of their culinary fare but the meatball toasties my friends had looked yum. A quick glance over the menu seemed to suggest it was a little pricey but it would be unfair for me to judge given I didn't get to try any of the food. Will have to give it a go next time I'm in town.
Approximate cost: $3.50
I dropped into Mr Tulk one Saturday morning in March 2011 on my way into uni. The decor and the location is gorgeous, but that's about as good as it gets. All I ordered was a coffee and a croissant to take away and I had to wait ages to get it. Staff were milling around and seemed disorganised (it wasn't that busy either). The coffee was average and the almond croissant was stale and tasted terrible. I wasted $8 that morning. I won't be going back!
Great location on the side of the State Library.
Nice decor and fittings. Good atmosphere. The food is creative and well executed.
Approximate cost: $7
