I had my wedding at Morning star on Saturday night and the Venue & Gardens were lovely, we had lots of great photos taken from many areas around the property, the Food and the wine were Fantastic, delicious food! Everyone of our guests had a great time, they all raved about the food, we had a cocktail style format and their was plenty of food for everyone. We had a band play for the reception, we had our reception in the Restaurant overlooking the gardens which was decorated so beautifully by Jacob and his team, they have a New Functions Co-ordinator at the Morning star called Lisa she is so organised, professional and on top of every little detail regarding our wedding! I had heard bad reviews in the past but after having my wedding there & having such a great functions co-ordinator in Lisa I can honestly say that I felt so confident in regards to the organisation of my wedding. All of our guest loved the food & Wine the cheff did a great job with the food there was plenty to go around. We had 18 rooms booked out for our family and friends to stay overnight, they were all very happy with accomadation, Mark at the Front desk was delightful and welcoming to everyone, Richard set up the Sunken Garden Beautifully for the Ceremony, Jacob and his staff In the restaurant were so delightful to all our wedding guest, everyone at the Morning Star estate couldn't do enough to accomadate every one of us at our wedding. I would highly recommend this Venue to anyone I know, Lisa the new Functions Co-ordinator is Fantastic and did a Brilliant Job in giving this very Fussy and controlling Bride her perfect wedding Day. I would Highly Recommend the Morning Star Estate for any function and their wonderful staff that they currently have at this Beautiful Venue! Well done Guys, Great Job, Very happy Bride!

We had lunch here on a sunny Sunday winter afternoon. The restaurant had a very lovely ambience. I ordered cod for the main and it was absolutely devine! Great flavours, food were fresh and just a very nice meal. Service was good, waiter tried to be funny and talk to everyone at the table.

We went for a walk around the gardens after lunch (it said you had ot pay $5 entry for the gardens if you are not a hotle/restaurant guest), which had spectacular views and were well maintained. They had a water feature and the place would really make a perfect wedding venue. Would definitely recommend this place if you're on holidays in the morning peninsula area.

went to new year concert at this estate. you could bring in your own picnc and soft drinks (wine & beer could be purchased at the stalls). They had an aussie cover band (we arrived after this so cant comment), then a U2 cover band (who were fantastic) then a Queen cover band. Wasnt a big Queen fan before but this band got everyone into the swing of the night. Fantastic entertainment, so well organised by this Estate. The highlight was the fantastic fire works display - best one I have ever seen and being away from the city lights, you could really see the full effect of the fireworks.
great event at this beautiful estate. Hope they make it a regular thing.

I went to my husband's cousins wedding and reception at this place. What fantastic views there were of the hills and the vine yard.

The only disappointment was that we couldn't go into the reception area until the wedding party was ready and we had to wait in the cold for ages.

The view from where we sat at the reception was amazing and the food was scrumptous.

Absolutely stunning venue! Morning Star Estate is a one stop shop for gorgeous location (of some 45,000 plus rose garden overlooking the ocean through a picturesque vineyard), stunning photos, several areas to choose from to walk down the aisle which they red carpet for you. They provide all the chairs, decorations etc for a flat fee. If the weather turns sour, there are several very different looking indoor options to choose from to save the day - which they prepare. We didn't have our reception there as our guest list was more than their capacity could handle, but the wedding itself went smoothly through great communication from Craig (events coordinator) with phone and email. Gorgeous venue - highly recommend this place!

I really enjoyed my lunch here. It is set in beautiful surrounds and is a really peaceful relaxed setting. The meals were yummy and the staff friendly and prompt. I would really recommend it

We had our wedding here. Our ceremony went along fine without any hitches. At the reception we chose a drinks package and upgraded on the beer, but they ran out and started serving cheaper beer without letting us know. We had a cocktail reception. A lot of people didn't get dinner and those that did were still hungry because the portions were so small. The dinner was brought out very late and I was very embarrassed to have guests ask me when the food was being served. We were told we'd be able to have full access to the stereo but on the night this changed and our co-ordinator did it. He ended up taking our CDs out and put his own music on!!

We had our wedding at Morning Star in October 2008 which we paid a considerable amount of money for. There is no doubt that the venue was beautiful and the views were priceless however the service was disappointing. We had a cocktail style reception for 80 people at approximately $130 p/head. We found that not all of the food that we selected was served and the portions which were priced at approximately $4 per piece were quite stingy. Our wedding cake that could have served 150 people and cost $800 was served in slithers and the rest of the cake was not returned neither were the handmade flowers. We had a wedding co-ordinator for the service who we had met prior to the day however had a change of co-ordinator for the reception which was not communicated. We were also advised that coffee and tea would be served with our cake however this was not the case and our guests were asked to pay for these beverages. We read a previous comment that was posted on this site regarding the kitchen and had issues with that as well. All that can be heard during my husband's speech was dishes being loaded into a dishwasher of some sort. The most disappointing part of our experience was that we did not receive written correspondence regarding our complaint as promised. i had followed this complaint up with management on three occassions and it has now been over a month and a half since my wedding.

Approximate cost: $50 per head/ cocktail style event

i went to a memorial service there, and it was a very nice place to farewell a loved one. the food afterwards was truly delicious, although I would never go there if i was paying, as i know the prices are huge.

Went there expecting great food and great atmosphere. Instead we got a table with a cold draught, uncooked over priced food and a prime view of one of the kitchen hands licking a spoon in full view of all of the patrons. A chef's notebook with a massive big Jim Beam sticker on it wansn't exactly appealing either.
