I believe we made a mistake by choosing the "Chef's choice" for $65. I think it included too many different menu items without highlighting what this restaurant is renowned for. I believe it does the restaurant a disservice by doing this. I would however say, we look forward to returning when we are next in Melbourne as their steaks looks absolutely amazing. I would not recommend the "Maiden's Mood".

This has been the best restaurant I have been to in Melbourne (if you like meat). The place is a bit hidden bit very stylish. Many little details in the decor that make this a very special place. Must go!

Fancy BBQ!
Great meats. But rather than just sticking to steaks, they serve up ribs, brisket, fried portions etc.
Served alongside sides such as mac & cheese, crunchy slaw and a simple peas with feta and chilli.
What really sets this place apart from other lower quality BBQ restaurants, in the quality of the marinades and sauces, the perfectly tuned balance of flavours and textures, fine presentation and sophisticated service.

We went to Meatmaiden yesterday for the second time and I could not fault one single thing we ordered - and we ordered a lot because I was super hungry. Every single dish was so delicious and full of flavour, I left completely satisfied. The Lobster mac and cheese is AMAZING. And the meat just melts in your mouth and the chicken ribs are unreal! PLEASE do yourselves a favour and check it out! Also, the house red is perfect as well!

A more sophisticated version of its richmond sibling (Meatmother), Meatmaiden sits in the former location of Hunter out the back of the Georges building. They have an amazing bar and cocktails space, and serve craft beers and bourbon. The food is pretty good too - sophisticated comfort food. Ie. Southern fried chicken ribs with tequila mayo, Lobster mac and cheese. But it is not all rich food, there are some healthy options too - pickled heirloom veggies served with goats curd and fresh chilli, or oysters with smoked fennel dressing.
