Do not take them here - they are inexperienced and are not vet surgeons and often have to outsource to vet surgeons. they misdiagnosed my cat who I told them had a history of crystals and wanted me to spend on top of the $2400 they had already charged me for doing nothing an extra $4000 so I took him to my usual vets - who i didn't take him to as they are not 24hr vets and it was out of hours when I realised the emergency situation - they said that he did not need surgery and this would be a last resort. So thank goodness for my cat I came and took him and he is back home healthy as a result. When I picked him up his bladder was full and he was very dirty. My vets were disgusted by this and also the fact that 2 unlabelled syringes were left in the bag they gave me.

Approximate cost: $2400

I had an emergency with my baby Alexandrine parrot at 8pm one night and rang this vet. They told me to come right in. The vet we saw, a woman, readily admitted not knowing a lot about parrots, and asked us to wait while she called a vet who did.

Long story short, the breeder had sold us a baby with intestinal malformation, and the kindest thing to do was put him to sleep.

I was very attached to him, as I had been hand feeding him, so I was very upset. The vet was compassionate and kind and asked whether I wanted to hold him while it was done.

Afterwards, she had kind words for me, and ended up only charging for the euthanasia and not the after hours consultation.

I also received a condolence card from them in the mail a few days later.

Their fees are a little steep, but you get what you pay for!

Residents of the south eastern suburbs of Brisbane are blessed to have the services of Manly Road Veterinary Hospital, a facility that is open 24 hours per day. Although their charges are somewhat high, this is to be anticipated given the extended hours that they operate.

The 24 hour nature of Manly Road's clinic also means that it's a frequent deposit point for lost animals. One of my dogs went walk-about in Cannon Hill one Friday evening and was picked up by a friendly stranger who thought him lost. My dog was taken to Manly Road Veterinary Hospital where he remained until I was able to locate him on the Sunday. The RSPCA had suggested that the vets might be one possibility. When I collected my dog he was happy and healthy and the vets did not charge for keeping him for two days. I was overjoyed and so thankful!
