We thought we would drop into Macs Hotel for a bistro lunch on Sunday as we hadn't been there for about a year. Sooooo disappointed with our meals. My husband ordered the Barammundi Fillets and I ordered the Veal Scallopini. I think I have been put off veal for life. I could buy better in a supermarket. The quality of the veal was terrible every bite felt like I was chewing on Grissel and the meal was cold when it came to the table. I tried my husbands fish and it tasted like cardboard. The hotel did the right thing and refunded me for the veal dish. The service was great and the staff were apologetic and accommodating to offer me another meal. I was reluctant to order anything else because the cook, and I mean cook, not a chef, must have been having a bad day. Then again the responsibility of the quality of meat and fish the hotel orders for the patrons meals really needs to be seriously looked at, won't be going back anytime soon. Next time we will go back to Stones at least this restaurant is consistent and serve quality meals.

Approximate cost: $25.00

Very disappointing in the quality of your meals, thankfully staff did the honourable thing by giving you a refund, as I know from previous dining experiences at other establishments, staff offered a free dessert instead!!

I went here for tea and had the porterhouse, it was cooked well and got a great size bit of steak and very delicious, fresh tasting vege's! The drinks are pretty well much stock standard price but your better off sticking to beers of the month they usually have good ones like Heineken and Becks! I would've went here more often if had the chance, if you haven't been check it out its like an oasis surrounded by a crappy town lolz

My steak was a little bit overcooked but still tasted ok, probably not worth $30 though. The chicken parmigiana was good and so was the lasagna although it was a little bit oily.

They were busy when I ate here and it took a long time for our meals to be served. Not all meals for our table were brought out at the same time - two of the meals came out close to 10 minutes later.

Overall food quality was good but service was a let down - maybe if they had more staff working food could be prepared and served quicker, and empty glasses and dishes could be cleared from tables as the meals are finished.

Approximate cost: $25-30

to be honest was a little disappointed. Ordered Garlic bread but was served cold hard herb bread. I was going to complain but by the time I got back from loo Half was already eaten. So I didn't think it was right to complain then. Main meal was better but I have had better meals there before.

Approximate cost: $25

We've been to Macs a fair few times and have found that they have gotten better each time we have been.

The first few times we went, despite the fact they were busy, we didn't expect to have to wait over an hour and a half for our garlic bread to arrive! On that occasion, I did phone the Manger and complained about the service and she was very receptive and took my comments seriously.

It is a good idea to book on Friday and Saturday nights as it can get quite busy.

They do have discount coupons on the back of local Supermarket dockets which helps save some money! You buy one meal and get the other main for $7.

They have a good variety and the serving sizes are generous.
