Very nice atmosphere, and great customer service, especially from the manager. Only thing is that the steaks do not come with anything

I've been here twice, both for dinner before a show. They have a great deal on either 2 or 3 courses if you're going to a show, and they make sure you're out in time to get there! The staff are very friendly and always helpful. The food was excellent the first time I went, and fairly good the second, so I suppose there is some variation in quality (which could have been dependent on the night and the chefs etc). In saying that, I have thoroughly enjoyed my meals, choosing from a tasty menu sticking to classic, tried combinations. My pork belly has been wonderfully rendered, and my steak cooked to a perfect medium rare, as requested. I'd be happy to eat here many times in future.

I dined here with a large group before seeing Wicked at the theatre.
For a steak house, I was surprised to receive a steak that was really tough and chewy.
There didn't seem to be enough staff- there was frequently no water on the table, and it was difficult to gain their attention to rectify this.
They went around with bottles of wine a few times, but as a non alcoholic drinker, I felt like I wasn't catered for.

Stayed at the Rydges earlier this year and selected the pre-theatre package. We were called the day before to confirm what time we wanted to dine before the show which I thought was great. Our meals were served quickly and the steaks were cooked amazingly. The tasting plates were great also! It was so nice to have a meal in a quiet restaurant (due to it being 5:45pm) and having efficient service with great quality food. We also had the buffet breakfast the next morning which was delicious. Huge variety of freshly cooked food and plenty of it! Highly recommended

We stayed in Rydges Melbourne for our trip. We always go here for drinks at night. The place was great to chill out. There was a decent variety of drinks i.e. cocktails. The cocktails taste great but dissapointing enough no garnishes on our drinks. They should make it more fancy. We had breakfast there as well. Not that great as not that many variety available. Service was good and its not a bad place to chill.

We went here once for dinner while staying at the Rydges hotel.

The food was good, but has a bit of room for improvement. I had the fish of the day which was the harpuka, which was oddly served in 3 round pancake-like pieces, but tasted good. Service was very good (apart from accidentally giving us the wrong drink and then forgetting to replace it), as they were very friendly and attentive. The speed was very good, we got our food very quickly. On the night, we were seated on a table against the wall which wasn't comfortable, but there looked like there were better seats elsewhere. As for value, it was very expensive for food that was just above average, so the value isn't that good. Overall, it was a fairly good restaurant that may be worth going back to again.
