Couldn't be happier with their service or quality. When I read their reviews I was hesitant but also felt I should leave my feed back after attending the store. They performed the service as quoted, replaced my brakes which I knew was the only thing that was required. And they were cheaper than my local. I can say you should speak with Mark. He is the best to Deal with. I was recommended by another friend to give them a go and I will be returning. They even washed my car. Fantastic service Mark and the whole team at Kmart tyre and auto. Keep up the good work.

I have been repeatedly disappointed by the quality of the service here. Please note that this review is for Kmart Tyre and Auto Chadstone and that I have had better experiences at other Kmart Tyre and Auto stores.

The wrong windscreen wipers were installed despite our prior agreement to NOT go ahead without the correct set. This resulted in the wipers flipping when they were turned on, rendering them both useless and dangerous.

The mechanic also failed to correctly refill my coolant, causing air bubbles to become trapped in the cooling system which can cause leaks and overheating. I heard the bubbling as soon as I turned the engine on post-service (they had clearly not done a test-drive) and promptly returned it to them but they were unable to explain the problem until I pushed them for an answer, and they were unable to fix the problem (despite claiming that they had). The bubbling is still occurring more than 12 months later (although it has reduced somewhat).

I booked an appointment in-store on one occasion and returned within minutes of this booking to re-schedule as I realised the original time was not going to work. It was a different staff member at the desk when I returned but I explained the situation to him and pointed out the original booking that was penciled into their calendar. I re-booked the appointment, only to be called on the morning of the ORIGINAL appointment and asked why I hadn't shown up. I then had to book for the third time as the second appointment I made had not been recorded.

Finally (and most significantly), I specifically asked them to test the car and listen closely as it was making a revving noise even when I was in the correct gear (affecting all gears). The noise was so uncomfortable at times that I had bought ear plugs to use on long trips. They reported no issues. A year later, I went to a dealership for my next scheduled service and asked them to check the car out as I was having the same issue. The staff member took the car for a 3 minute drive, before returning and telling me that the wheel bearing (1 wheel) required an urgent replacement. I was told not to drive the car home that day for my own safety and that if I absolutely had to, I should not drive at more than 60 kph. I had been driving for a year - 2 hours/day at 80-100 kph - with a wheel that could have slipped off at any moment.

If you are considering this business, it is absolutely not worth it.

I've been to other KTAS centers and always had a good experience, so didn't hesitate to go here when it became my closest service center. I won't go back though. They kept adding things on and reccomending things that I knew I had already had done in my previous service (such as a full air intake service, new wiper arms as well as blades). I had an 'engine issue' which just for the diagnostic charged over $100, then because they couldn't determine which engine coil to replace, they replaced all 4 as well as a whole suite of other things - the most expensive service I could imagine. Less than 7 weeks later and after hardly using the car, check engine light comes on again- I went to an independent dealer and had the same diagnostic run and total charge- $25. I hardly even trust that the work they charged me for was done. KTAS Chadstone felt like bullying in a professional mask, saying things had to be done immediately, shouldn't be driven etc. My Independent said he had heard the same story over and over. Won't be wasting my money here again.

Disappointing! Wasn't happy with my mechanic so rang around and decided to give them a go. Price seemed reasonable although when I turned up, they tried to charge me more... Just wanted a 70,000km service which is quite std. They called me up to tell me I needed extra things done such as a cracked drive belt, wiper arm (not just the rubber) and new air filter. I didn't go ahead as the cost was very expensive and I wasn't prepared to pay more. Their comments were if I didn't fix quickly, the car would not work. I don't know anything about cars and believe they were using the scare tactic on me - yes I was worried but wanted to get another opinion. Took it to another mechanic and asked them to do the 3 things Kmart had said. They checked it all out and just changed the air filter at a cheaper price! Wont go back to Kmart auto anymore! You get worse than what you pay for...

I brought my car to service at Toyota dealer months ago. They informed me that my front braking pad is wearing thin (2mm) and require replacement. They quoted me $350 for a pair of front braking pad. I later called few other stores and found that Kmart Tyre at Chadstone actually provide cheaper quote (approx. $149 for a pair of braking pad). They confirmed that the car could be serviced in less than an hour. So I brought my car their on Saturday morning, but only to know one hour later that they need to order the braking pad in the next Monday morning. They shouldn't ask me to bring my car in if they couldn't confirm that they can finish in a day. Very typical auto service provider.

They later informed me that the braking disc is wearing thin and need replacement. It will cost >$450 to change the braking disc. They explained it in a professional manner and in view of safety reason and the urgency of getting my car back (I'm driving to Canberra on Tuesday for a business trip). It is my first time changing braking pad and has never changed braking disc before as my new car is only less than 3 years old. I later decided to let them change it. However, my colleagues later told me that I have been cheated as braking disc shouldn't wear that fast, more so for a car that has less than 3 years and less than 25000 km. I just felt like being ripped off by Kmart Auto that day.

Approximate cost: $>200
