Katiallo
Well it was certainly KATIALLO!
This is NOT the restaurant it once was with its fresh and fine food and quality service. Overpriced for very ordinary food. It has failed to live up to its Founder’s ‘declaration’ of his ancestor’s Greek meals that once graced the page of the menus.

We arrived around 6:45 for a meal only to be told we had to sit outside because the restaurant was fully booked out. Well, at 7:30pm the same 15 tables were still sitting empty. They were still empty when we walked passed at 8:30pm.

So, despite the indifferent and rather rude and cold reception, we did not walk away and sat under the umbrellas (outside). However, rather than have our customary three course meal and drinks, we settled for a main each which was bland to say the least. Same food at any of the other restaurants on the Mall for $10 less per meal.

The salmon on beetroot was tasteless, lacking its dressing (10 minutes wait trying to capture any waiter’s attention for condiments), by which time the salmon had turned cold.

The calamari was adequate (have eaten better for less $) while the chips were dry; the accompanying “salad’ was nothing more than half a tomato chopped in quarters, four slices of cucumber, two olives and a thin slice of feta cheese.

Upon departure we paid the exact amount on the bill - not a cent more, not a cent less.

‘Katiallo’ is advised to change its name to TA EIDIA (The Same).

Such a SHAME. When it first opened it was our favourite restaurant and we would dine frequently and bring our out-of-town friends along. Alas, no more. We will never return!

Is there any way to give minus 5 stars? I have eaten in many restaurants all over the world and cannot help encountering some disappointments. This disaster of a place is the worst I have ever encountered. We were six for dinner on a Saturday night. Had to call a waiter over a few times to get someone to take out order. The MEZE arrived without serving utensils for sharing and when asked they gave us one spoon for 6 dips and salads. When 4 meals arrived after a very long wait, all 4 were only half eaten as they were dry and poor quality. The 2 meals that still did not arrive 30 minutes after the 4 were cast aside were treated with "sorry, we are busy". We had to ask about them 3 more times and finally after an hour the 2 arrived. They never came around again to clear the table or ask if we wanted anything else. We had to go to the register to pay (should have just walked out) and the very rude lowlife there said "no bill splitting" because we should have seen it on the menu. Why would we expect any kind of service or good business savvy now? I am amazed that such a *&@#hole can get any reviews above a 1 star. Do yourselves a favour and avoid like the plague this is.

Very big portions of food, for very cheap. This is where you see all the locals coming. I was very full after. Waitress took a long time to come over to take my order.

Their Gyro plates are delicious, absolutely huge, can easily share between two, or if you are super hungry eat all to yourself. Their coffees are also well made and come out hot. Great selection of cakes and pastries, biggest selection in the area. Love coming here to eat.
