Was about a 2 hour drive from Hobart but was an interesting experience seeing part of untouched Tasmania. The Train trip was $70 for a family of 2 adults and 3 children under 16. The trip goes for 2 hours and the destination is a place called Deep Hole a beautiful sandy beach, unlike the beach connected to the derwent. Totally recommend if looking for something to do in Tassie.

This sounds wonderful. I would love to go to Tasmania and it seems so beautiful. The railway prices sound pretty reasonable for a whole family.

A great day out for the family. With a lovely cosy cafe to sit and have a great home made meal and coffee, while you wait for a ride on the beautiful deisel train which takes you on a 2 hour round trip through beautiful bush then down to the most beautiful beach you have ever seen. There is also a covered in bbq picnic area and also toilets out there as well. Beautiful walking tracks where if you want you can take the train down and stay untill the next train comes along. The train runs 7 days aweek and 4 runs per day, starting from 9.30 in the morning. We will be back it was a great family day. Thankyou Ida bay

Approximate cost: $70 per family
