I had great service compared to some that I read on another food review site. The food was better quality than most Chinese restaurants but you do pay for it. I don't mind it as it was a good ambience, looked fantastic inside the restaurant and you walked in through a heavy door.
Absolutely delicious dumplings, the chilli wontons and the pan fried pork dumplings are to die for, would absolutely recommend this place! Much easier to get a table than the market lane hutong with the same yummy taste!

Love Hu Tong Dumpling Bar. Seem to be alot of dumping places popping up around town however this is one of the best dumplings I have had. Great spot!

We just love Hu Tong. Both Prahran and city restaurants though the city loc'n seems to have menu items the Prahran restaurant doesn't have. We love how the waiter orders for us and listens to what we love. Service is great though once had a waiter with a touch of attitude. Dumplings are excellent bar none. Peking duck is delicious. Have taken a japanese family visiting from Osaka and they said it was by far the best Chinese restaurant they'd ever been to. Love the sharing plates. Can't wait to go again.

This used to be my favourite place for Xiao long bao (steamed pork buns) but the quality has deterioted over the last year or so and therefore we visit less now. They are usually busy and the food is generally still good in comparison to other Chinese restaurants. Service can be a little slow so you need to be in the mindset to have a patient meal.

This is a great place for a quick, satisfying asian meal (dumpling fix in my case) I have dined here about a dozen times, both for lunch and dinner, I must say I only even order the dumplings and some small dishes, I have never ordered the main meals. The soup dumplings are amazing. You have to pop them into your mouth whole and let the soup ooze out. YUM! They also do a delicious spring onion pancake - delicious with some chilli! The steamed dumplings and pan friend dumplings are also fantastic. So much to choose from, but I must admit, I always stick to the same :)
Approximate cost: $10-20
The Resturant will suit you if you are looking for a decent meal in a nice traditional Chinese environment. The food is good and a bit pricy. Overall, it a nice Resturant to spend sometime and enjoy a diner.
The dumblings and other Chinese offerings are delicious! The Peking duck is absolutely stunning. The service can be so-so when it's busy.. but the food makes it worth it.
Approximate cost: $25
Staying close proximity gave my wife and I an opportunity of peering through the windows to get an idea of the decor and so forth, and with my wife being Chinese she is very particular when it comes to Chinese restaurants. The interior ambiance was nice, so we decided to give it a go... furthermore I tried a dish for the first time. Not being a seafood person at all - I simply never eat anything out of the sea - I succumbed when my wife pushed me to go with a main of spicy fish. Talk about hot! I love hot food, but this one too the cake for perspiration inducing fits. Wow, but it was fantastic. Service wise we had no complaints, however it wasn't out of the ordinary. Pricing was keen, certainly keener than I expected and the place was packed - and for good reason. As far as Chinese Restaurants go - and we have been to dozens of them - Hutong ranks with the best of them
Approximate cost: $60
