Went into the salon in November and was provided with a quote and appointment time for January. January approaches and unfortunately, I contract covid. I notify the salon and they reschedule me for the “next available” appointment with a different hairdresser in 7 weeks’ time. I ask for the hairdresser that performed the initial consultation, as I'm a bit anxious about being booked with someone who doesn't know what I'm wanting, only to have the salon overplay the initial hairdressers waiting time. Instead, I enquired about a hairdresser that previously looked after my friend, only to find out that her wait time was 2-3 weeks. I try to schedule in with her, as I trust her work, but get informed that she’s a third-year apprentice and can’t cut hair. I request to have my hair coloured by the apprentice and cut by someone else on the day, but they can’t accommodate this. I try to schedule without a cut, only to find it is only $30 cheaper despite the quote stating that cut is $82. Thus, I decide to wait the 7 weeks to get a cut as well for essentially the same price. Leading up to my appointment, the salon manager kept calling me to confirm several details, which led to her changing the length of my hair from short to medium on the system. Not sure why my appointment is being altered over the phone, when I already underwent an in-person consultation. Two weeks prior to appointment, I visit the salon to confirm my quote, out of fear that it had been increased following the phone interrogations. I was greeted by a very passive aggressive receptionist. I requested to speak with my hairdresser, only to get told that she can’t see me as she’s with a client. I politely say that I’m happy to wait, only to get barked at “who told you to come here today?”. I didn’t realise that I needed an appointment to chat briefly about an existing appointment. Receptionist says that I can’t wait around and have to book an appointment, only to give me one option smack bang in the middle of the day, which didn’t coordinate with my work schedule. After insisting that I need to see her, I get told to instead come back in an hour. I walk back to my car and feel very displeased with how I was treated, so I write a google review. I then realise that by the time I drive to home, it’ll almost be time to drive back. So, I return to the salon and reassert that I’d much rather wait to have someone verify the quote. I express my displeasure surrounding their service so far, only to be met with a very dismissive receptionist who would not take accountability for the salon’s terrible customer service. After some back and forth, the receptionist finally grabs a different hairdresser from out the back. Upon assessing my hair, this new hairdresser decides to write out a new quote and to my surprise, the price has increased by $100. I query it, only to be told that their prices have increased since my initial quote. I explain that I feel as though they should honour my initial quote, as I was booked in prior to their price changes. They say that their quotes are only a guide and subject to change. All throughout this altercation, the receptionist kept offering to reimburse my deposit. I reiterate that I want to keep my appointment, as I know I won’t get in at another salon before my graduation. Three days prior, I get a text message to say that “in light of your review of our business, management has decided to cancel all future appointments.” Not sure why they made me wait an additional two weeks only to cancel. I have never heard of any business banning a customer all because of a poor review. I’m a supervisor for a big supermarket and a receptionist at a hospital. I am subjected to more severe disagreements and verbal abuse daily. Do I cancel my patients’ future procedures? Do I ban customers from entering the supermarket? Hidden Minx could have taken this opportunity to shine and correct the situation, but instead they made my impression worse. I will continue to tell of my experience and share this story until they take accountability for their poor handling.

I love the atmosphere and you always walk out with your hair styled beautifully with an on trend style rather than just a blow wave and straighten like most places do.

Georgie has been my chosen hair stylist since she first began as a student, because she was my daughter's school friend and I thought I'd give her a go. Now, she is a great hairdresser with a natural talent for knowing what suits her clients as well as knowing her craft. She is a true sweetie and will make you feel comfortable and spoilt. I had a much needed trim, but as I have very long hair, and it is quite thin now, she has her work cut out to keep it flattering for my older face. She never disappoints me.

Approximate cost: $54
