Happys is a great place to go with a group of friends when you want a cheap eat. It's always busy and vibrant which is great! The food is good and is good value for money!

Must admit service is not the greatest. Atmosphere is not that good either BUT the food is fantastic. Authentic Cantonese food is hard to find and you can find it at Happy's. Great food at decent price.

In terms of high class Cantonese cuisine, Happy's is a bit of a benchmark in Canberra. It is an institution in fact. The chicken and salted fish fried rice is outstanding, and the sizzling garlic prawns are hard to go past. It isn't cheap, but you get what you pay for with this place.

We often go to Happy's for lunch during the week. They do the best banquets and the price is amazing. The amount of food that is in the banquet is huge. We never ever get through all the dishes no matter how hungry we are. The service and staff is great. Excellent location in the heart of Civic.

This is our favourite restaurant in Canberra to get a quick, inexpensive and delicious meal! At Happy's it's ALL about the substance, not style: it's underground, looks like a Chinese restaurant from the 80's and the staff are efficient if not super friendly (which is more than fine by us) - but the food! It's the best Chinese food in Canberra, bar none. It's served quickly and it's hot and fresh and tasty. The servings are very generous and a huge meal will only come out to be about $20pp. There's nothing I don't like about Happy's and we always bring our friends who go on to be regulars just like us.

Good service, a great meal, and a decent experience. This is a pretty standard Chinese restaurant. A solid bet if you're looking for dinner in the city, but don't expect anything exciting.

Happy's is in the heart of the CBD - A very good location. Not great if you are with someone in a wheelchair or have a stroller though as you have to go down 2 flights of stairs.
The decor needs a bit of work, as it looks dated and old.
However, the food is great and very well priced. They are great with larger bookings also. I do recommend booking ahead though as it can get quite busy.

Have been there a few times, the food is ok but you will just as good in many other places for the same price. The atmosphere is terrible, last time dining there I tripped over boxes lining the narrow corridor thta leads to the toilets. The whole place is tatty. Last time we tried to go there for a quick meal we were shown a table that was right under a cold blasting of air from the airconditioner. As we had all just recovered from illness we did not want to sit in this position. There were several other table the same size vacant so we asked to move. The waiter was extremely rude and complained about the fact we had asked to move. we politely explained that as customers we did not expect to be treated this way and said as it was so much of a problem for him we would find somewhere else to eat and we left. We will never return there again. The up side of this was that we found a great noodle place a few doors down which we now frequent for quick meals.

Quick service with good food although needs a bit of a facelift, good for a quick meal but not a dinner out with friends

Very reasonable food. Lots of hype over this shop for its chinese food. I recommend it. Its entrance is a bit misleading as you enter through a door and down a flight of stairs. Appears dingy, but misleading. "Don't judge a book by its cover".
