I was quite surprised at the lack of privacy in this open plan office. While waiting for my appointment I couldn't help overhear the tax details of the person in front, no more than 2m away.

Overall I was very dissatisfied with this appointment and could not recommend them to anyone. I booked the longer $299 appointment because my tax was a bit more complicated this year. The accountant was late and then spent a disproportionate amount of time trying to find me in her system. The whole appointment was very rushed and disorganised, then after about 20mins she abruptly announced that my time was up. They ended up charging less because they realised nothing had been achieved, but even that was hard to swallow because all they did was waste my time.
I will now need to do my return online myself.

I always promise myself I'll never return but end up using them as I'm behind.

Last time I went I had 2 tax returns completed at once which I was told left me owing about $3k to the ATO. I paid and left thinking my part was done. I phoned the ATO 3 weeks later as I hadn't heard from them and they said they had received NO returns for me. I rang H&R Block to ask what had happened and was told they had NO record of having completed a tax return for me. I semi dead them I had a receipt to prove it and expected a call back. I bi+ched about them on Facebook and an accountant I know said to bring my returns to her and tell H&R Block not to submit my returns. I phoned H&R Block and made this request.

My friend more than halved my bill for me but, in the mean time I got a letter, 3 weeks after my calls between the ATO and H&R Block, from the ATO responding to my tax returns by H&R Block and wanting $3k.

Most people I know who have used them have been disappointed by the 'service'. I suggest steering clear of them.
