A not so well organized second hand book store but at least the genres are placed in the same areas. There appears to be some organizing going on since Mr Gould sadly departed and his daughter is now in control. Be prepared to spend a few hours reviewing the shelving and piles of books to find a bargain... And if you suffer from allergies perhaps take some tissues and a claratine before you go in.
Huge bookshop at the end of King St which stocks almost everything (but it can take a whole day to browse there is so much!). Pricing is good, and you're always bound to find something there.
This is a mixed bag of a store. It's a HUGE second hand bookstore. The categories are well laid out so finding your area of interest is not difficult. The books are stacked two deep so finding something to interest is not difficult but finding just what you're looking for is a bit hit and miss. Pricing is excellent and they do records and CDs as well.
Goulds Book Arcade is open from 9am and closes just before midnight. There is a very eclectic range of books, including many that are out of print. Books are shelved by category. Each category takes up a different aisle. If books cannot fit on the shelves, the are piled up on the floor, up to and above my waist level. If you love books this is the place to be, it's like searching through a ginormous pile of treasure. I go to goulds because I love books, and not because i'm looking for one book in particular. If there is one problem, it's that the old gentleman at the counter who owns it can be abit grumpy when you pay for your purchases.
Approximate cost: $4-$60
